    Schooling Cories of different species?

I feel your pain. That's the way it was here when I 1st started up. Now I'm friends with all the important people that have control over the orders. Mondays I go in & go over the lists with them & pick what I want. The 3 stores here also finally realized that "weird" sells & bettas, guppies, &...

    Schooling Cories of different species?

Sterbai, green Lazar, Caudimaculatus, Habrosus, Pepper, Julii, & here's a shot with the sterbai with an albino I also have Bronze (both long & short fin), orange Venezuelan, pygmaeus, panda, similis.... I think that's all. I guess that's more than 10 types, I lose track sometimes

    Schooling Cories of different species?

Well mine all seem to mix just fine. They could be the exception I guess...but then maybe yours are the exception? Just sayin

    Schooling Cories of different species?

I have 10 different types of corydoras in my planted 55gal. They all seem to interact with each other without issue. The only ones I've found to be happier with their own kind are the Pygmy species habrosus & pygmaeus. Probably because they're so much smaller. I keep these in schools of 5 or so...

    Snail bait

Well if you lived near me I'd buy some snails off you. I would really like my assassins to breed. They're pretty hard to find around here & when you do they're selling for $8.99 each. A couple of stores would buy them off me but I can't find the snails to feed them & from what I can tell they...

    Snail bait

Mine haven't gone after my other snail & pretty much ignore it. I had 1 Nerite that died & they never touched it. But I had been told that assassins wouldn't or couldn't kill snails with the spiral shells & that was completely not true. The little guys were dead within hours. I wouldn't trust...

    Snail bait

How big are your Nerites? I have mine in a tank with assassin snails & haven't had a problem. My Nerites are about 1/2 or 3/4 inch. In my 55gal planted I added 4 assassins & within about a month all the little snails were gone. I also have a planted 15gal column that was completely infested...

Dumbest Aquarium advice you've ever been given?

Not really advice but it cracks me up every time I see it. In one of my LFS there's a large banner above the tanks that says "ALL FISH 2 FOR 1. No warranty on 2 for 1 fish" So I asked "Um so that means no warranty then right?" Reply "no no, just on the 2 for 1 fish" Umm. Huh. Well then....

    Crystak Clear

I've used Clear Fast before & it worked great. You should use filter floss with it tho. That being said, you can clear up cloudy water just by using filter floss alone. It takes a couple of days but then you're not using chemicals. This all depends on WHY your water is cloudy of course

    Dried Algae on acrylic tank

Well finally got the tank cleaned & now running great. A friend was shutting down his 10 gallon nano so I got all his sand, live rock, corals, water, & critters. Fastest cycle ever! Here's the before & after pics. So stoked. It's my first saltwater ever! Before After Critters

I don't have many snails left. My assassins did too good of a job.

Need "HELP" My fish is sick

I don't know very much about puffers except they are aggressive & multiples shouldn't be housed in a 10 gallon tank. Also you just got the tank? Did you cycle prior to adding the fish?

Dumbest Aquarium advice you've ever been given?

Ah yes the old "you're too young to know what you're talking about" stereotype. I remember how that felt. People don't want to listen to older people either. For the most part they only want to hear what they want to hear. Sad really. For those people I suggest a quick google search if they...

Dumbest Aquarium advice you've ever been given?

Not really sure why you didn't say anything. I know I sure would & I have. People won't know if you don't teach. It's part if the hobby

    Fish to keep with Shrimp

My embers school & the only fish in their tank are neons, mosquito Rasboras (awesome nano fish), sparkle gouramis, licorice gouramis, & Dario Dario. So I would think they'd still stick together

Whats the dosage for epsom salt?

I've been researching this for a bit & it's amazing how many different answers there are. This is the first I've heard of 1 tbsp per 5gal. The most common dosage I've seen is 1 tbsp per 10 gal. But have seen as low as 1/4 tsp per 5 gal. Also what exactly is it good for?? Opinions vary. I was...

Dumbest Aquarium advice you've ever been given?

I didn't know enough about plecos to be sure about that but I most definitely do know that assassin snails didn't earn the name "assassin" because of their ability to decimate algae!

Dumbest Aquarium advice you've ever been given?

From a FB group: Problem: my Pleco ate my last yellow blaze baby. Is there a different option for an algae eater that's not going to eat my babies Answer: shrimp & assassin snails are best for algae control & will be safe with the babies I butt in: assassin snails eat snails not algae & not...

Im a WUSSY - killing snails

I don't think you're alone in it but everything needs to eat something. I think assassins are the best option. I love loaches too but found the assassins did a much better job & if you're squeamish they're less obviousness about killing. It ends being pretty cool cuz now my dark Fluval substrate...

    Dwarf Gourami Profile

I have a 55g heavily planted tank & have 3 powder blue males, 2 red flame males, assorted honeys (4 males & 2 females), also 4 Pygmy honeys all males. These are in the same tank with corys, loaches, rednosed shrimp, bamboo shrimp, guppys, tertas, rasboras, balloon rams (males), & 2 female...

    First Time Planted Aquarium Recommendations

These are my 2 tanks. No ferts no co2 & only stock Aqueon T8 full spectrum daylight bulbs. I have 24-26 different types of plants in my 55g & 14 in my 15g. Don't be afraid of live plants. They're not as difficult as some people try to make them out to be. My plants grow great. My advice, try it...
