What to expect when my Danio is expecting...

Thanks for the info :) I'm pretty sure most of them are males then. Just this one & maybe one other female. I'll keep you guys posted if I do happen to see fry. My gravel is small round/jagged rocks. The tank is a 39 gallon but depending on a few things.. They may all be moving to a 50+ maybe...

    Help! Multitude of problems!

I've done two 10% WC's today since the test. I'm officially out of conditioner. I'll have to pick some up tomorrow. I've also ran the net through the water catching some debris when I did the changes. I really need to clean the gravel :/ one step at a time though.. My little cory cat will have...

    Help! Multitude of problems!

New test results: PH: up to 6.8 Ammonia: way down to .50 ppm Nitrite: still 0 Nitrate: still between 80-160 but it's less red today than it was last night. So closer to 80. Suggestions anyone? Ammo chips are undoubtedly responsible for the much lower ammonia. No smell today either. Water is...

    Help! Multitude of problems!

It's leaking from the seam.. It's very slow but steady. Like I said up in the thread (I think) it's something like 2-5 gallons per day or two. I didn't get a chance to go out today, still having to deal with other stuff here at the house. Right now I just have a pot under it.

What to expect when my Danio is expecting...

Not sure how much you can tell (they never sit still for very long) but you can kind of see how this one is shaped much differently than the others in this picture.

What to expect when my Danio is expecting...

So is something wrong with my Danio? Or do they get square tummies when they're preparing to lay eggs? I'm confused now.. I don't plan on selling them. I'm looking into either acquiring a larger aquarium to move everyone into or a smaller one to separate some of them into. I am overstocked as is.

I may also try to aquire a smaller aquarium so I can split some of these guys up... Or a larger one to rehome everyone into.

    Help! Multitude of problems!

Mmk thanks you guys! I've got it now. New sponge, old ceramic, ammo chips. Now I'm going to do a partial water change, I'll do a big one when I fix the filter. Does this sound like a good idea?

Ammo chips are back in now. What about the new sponge? Keep it or put the old stinky one back in?

I can live with putting the old sponge back in too if need be. It smells but if it's better for them I'll do it.

    Help! Multitude of problems!

I just removed the ammo chips, put the old bio media back in. Should I remove the new carbon & put the ammo chips back in? I'm confused & frantic right now you guys! Just tell me what exactly should be in my filter for the time being. I suspect the new sponge stays, as well as the old bio...

The ammonia control stuff has worked very well! Because it was off the chart earlier! & the old sponge still smells awful :/ that's how bad the ammonia was, you could smell it..

Waiting on Nitrite & Nitrate tubes to develop now. The BB is not dried out they were set in aquarium water while I posted this. Should I remove the ammonia removal rocks & put them back? Should I also put the old sponge back?

I'm going to check my parameters again since I changed all the stuff. The old ones probably wouldn't be too accurate right now.

@Rivercats my ammonia is usually good, the spike was very sudden. I am unable to rehome at the moment. I should have called him medium instead of large. He's probably 5-6 inches.

Didn't think of silicone.. I thought maybe acrylic would be a faster fix since it dries pretty rapidly. Could I set the cylinder rocks IN the tank somewhere temporarily? I don't change them often either. These have probably been in for about the length of time you suggested. I know I have BB...

What to expect when my Danio is expecting...

I have 5 glofish Danios. Red, Lime, Orange, Purple, & Blue. The Lime colored one has had a square tummy for (give or take) a month. I don't know their genders. So I'm not sure who the father is. I've dealt with pregnant Mollies & with success. Will the fry be multicolored? Or are some colors...

    Help! Multitude of problems!

Problem #1 are the cylinder shaped rocks necessary? Because I'm out. I can pick some up tomorrow if they are. Problem #2 My aquarium is pretty heavily populated (in my opinion) & the ammonia levels were high so in place of the cylinder shaped rocks I put in ammonia control rocks (excuse my...

    My fish are dying!

It is definitely an animal thing. We're all much more in tune with mother nature & all of her children. :) People who have a passion for other living things tend to be more passionate about life itself. We obviously for one reason or another have a greater ability and a heightened sense of the...

    My fish are dying!

:) I might make a Facebook page for people who have pictures of cats being curious about aquariums. I'll have to come up with a better name though. It's too cute. You & your friend's tanks are pretty! I tend to find the nicest people on pet related sites. Animal lovers are the best! I've only...
