    60 gallon tank restore

**update** Tore down the old 45 gallon and put up a new 36 gallon bow front that I got a killer deal on. Same live rock and sand. After few weeks of running the tank completed the cycle. 0 ammonia, 0 nitrites. For a while nitrites were sky high, I added some more water movement ( 2...

    60 gallon tank restore

So I found out the tank is a 45 gallon. I thought it looked small for a 60 ;) My live rock came today. This was my first time aquascaping. I'm pretty happy with the way it looks. Plan on letting the tank run like this and continuously check parameters for a long while. I'll post more pics...

    60 gallon tank restore

Drained the water. Glad to report no leaks! Can't wait to start filling it. I'm going to start with live rock and hopefully some marine fish at a later date. Plan on ordering live rock sometime next week.

    60 gallon tank restore

I acquired a free 60 gallon glass tank with a fairly nice stand. I was told the tank does not leak but the silicone seals looked terrible. I decided to strip the old silicone off and replace it. I used aquarium only sealant and followed some instructions online. Here are some before and...

    Baby guppies new home

I agree with what freshwaterashley said. Hiding places are good and help. I only had a 5 gallon set up that my adult guppies were in. The fry put my tank into overstock status and the babies weren't growing well. I had them in a breeder net for the first month then moved them to a tank of...

    Baby guppies new home

Walmart had a tetra 1.8 gallon waterfall globe on sale for $19. I'm using it as a temporary housing for my 3, 1 month old guppy fry. They were running out of room in that breeder net. The waterfall flow is a bit rough for the fry so I put a cup on it to slow the flow down, now the guppies are...
