    OB peacock cichlid pregnant

Yea, it seemed strange to since there was no other OB's in the tank, but after some of the reading I have done it seem very possible. I do not have another tank to put her in, i do have some of those floating baskets though. Would you recommend putting her in one of those for the time being?

    OB peacock cichlid pregnant

It a tank of peacock cichlids, 2 male yellow benga and 2 male German reds. I have a couple others but they are still really young and do not have their colors yet. I got them all from a local breeder so I am not sure what they are all yet. They are in a 55 gallon. Thanks, I hope that helps.

    OB peacock cichlid pregnant

I am new to Africans peacock and I have a single OB and think she might have eggs in her mouth. She has not open her mouth in a couple days and her mouth looks really full. I was wondering if there is any way to tell for sure, and if so what do I need to do to protect the babies once released.

    Changing to a 55 gallon.

I have looked into getting some New Worlds, I have had Oscars before and liked them a lot. I was looking to have more fish though. Those fish get two big where you can only put one or two in the tank. Green Terrors are very tempting though.

    Changing to a 55 gallon.

Thanks everyone for the help. I am still not sure what I am going to do, but I have a month before I start buying any fish as I get my tank ready. If anyone has any ideal set up for a 55 gallon, I would be open to any suggestion. I almost feel that I am just going to have to make my best guest...

    Changing to a 55 gallon.

What about single cichlids. I have seen a lot of tanks online that have only one of a species in a tank with dozens of cichlids. I have read some mix things about it. I have also read some advice that says you should keep all males or all females. I am pretty knew to Africans and just want to...

    Changing to a 55 gallon.

What about some rusties? I have heard good things about them and they do well with Demasonis and Yellow Labs.

    Changing to a 55 gallon.

I have a 55 gallon tank and have kept fish for a while. When I first got the fish tank my end goal was to get African Cichilds, but started with easier community tank. I feel like I am to the point where I can get started. However there are so many options and a lot of contradictory information...

    Infected tail

Thank you everyone, I have been doing water changes, added salt in the tank and some of the other advice. Her tail is starting to look better and I even saw her swimming with some of the males like they want to mate, so I hope she will be making a full recovery. Thank you again for the advice...

    Infected tail

Thank Bardbury.that is really good advice and I will start trying it. I have all ready been doing the water changes, but plan on keeping them going. I feel like one of the problems is that this rosy barb is about 5 years old now, and has been looking pretty old for the past couple of months. I...

I have a rosy barb whose tail is infected. I came home one day and saw that where her caudal fin meets her body was very bloody. I think she might of got bit, most likely by my rainbow shark. Now two days latter her tail is all swollen, white and puffy. I am not sure what to do to help her. My...

    Planted Betta Tank

I have an old 10 gallon that I have been raising some baby's in, but they are about ready to be moved in to my 55 gallon with their parents. I would like to redo the 10 gallon tank and add some substrate and live plants and put a beta in there. My only experiences with plants is with a couple I...

    Rosy Barbs and Cichlids

Thanks for all the advise. It has helped give me some direction with my tank. My lfs does not carry most of those fish, and the next closes is over an hour away. I will just have to keep my eyes open.

    oscar

A school of Silver Dollars would be great. I had Oscars before, and they were not very aggressive as long as the other fish left them alone. I also had a Pleco in with them and they got a long fine. Also other Oscars go well together most of the time. With Oscars though, it depends on your...

    Rosy Barbs and Cichlids

I have a 55 gallon tank with a school of 6 rosy barbs. I have been wanting to try my hand at some cichlids for while and wanted some advise. I have read that rosy barbs act as a dither fish and can help keep cichlids clam. So I was thinking about trying to add some young jeweled cichlids and/or...

    Rosy Barb Fry

I have a school of 6 rosy barbs in my 55 gallon tank. I see them breed all the time, but then they eat their eggs, and I am ok with that. However, the other day I was cleaning my tank, and I found one rosy barb baby hiding/stuck behind a rock and the wall and his/her parents could not get at...

    My new, shocking discovery

I have had a school of rosy barbs for about a year now, and I have never had a problem with them fin nipping. I hear, though I have never had them, tiger barbs are the real fin nippers. I think most other barbs, as long as they are in a school, do really well in a community tank.

    New guy

I have had a fish tank for about year now, my father in law gave me his old 55 gallon. When I first got it, I did not do almost any research and made a couple big mistakes. After those mistakes, I sold all the fish but for a couple, did a lot of research and re did the tank. My current set up...
