Can Fiddler Crabs kill themselves during molting?

Well, she's dead. We went ahead and buried her. Looking in her shell we found her missing legs and claw that never made it out. Have to assume that she got herself stuck when molting and panicked and ripped herself free, or she got some kind of freak deformity that caused this molting to go...

Can Fiddler Crabs kill themselves during molting?

I dont' think they could. The biggest is barely an inch and the only change is we did recently add 2 cherry shrimp in there, but they're tiny. I think I see a couple of legs but it is hard to tell whether it is her leg, or the molted leg.

Can Fiddler Crabs kill themselves during molting?

Hey all, I have a Freshwater fiddler crab named Feefee that I've had for over a year never with any problems. This morning though she was in the corner missing legs and possibly her right claw. It looked like some stuff was folded up on her right side too. We saw her molted skin hanging upside...

    Sick/Dying Fancy Tail Goldfish

Water Parameters: pH: 8.2 Ammonia: .25 Nitrite: 0 Nitrate: 0 I have no idea what is going on here. I have purchased my goldfish from at least 4 different stores in my area. I also want to add in some additional information about the tank. About a week before my white and red goldfish died I...

    Sick/Dying Fancy Tail Goldfish

yes, we got two more goldfish in there. And one unfortunately has started to slow down and seem a little unhealthy. Is it possible that it's the food? I've been using the same can for about 8 months now. I'll post my tanks parameters tomorrow.

    Sick/Dying Fancy Tail Goldfish

He was dead this morning. I expected it honestly. Now I just want to know if what he had was contagious or not.

    Sick/Dying Fancy Tail Goldfish

I will supply water parameters in the morning. Here are the best pictures I could get. Notice the white spot near his lips, even holding him I couldn't tell what it was, but I don't think it's a fungus. Could be wrong though.

    Sick/Dying Fancy Tail Goldfish

Just noticed him like this today so whatever is wrong with him is working fast. His upper lip seems to be weird. Like, there's some triangular thing sticking up from his upper lip. It seems like its part of his skin, not necessarily a growth. It almost appears to be a rupture but I can't tell...

    Ammonia Burns on Goldfish?

Final Update: Avalon passed away this morning. I was next to him as he took his final breath. It was heartbreaking but I'm relieved to know that he is no longer suffering. He's been buried next to his friend Goldeen, with a flower planted next to them. jlk, I sincerely want to thank you for...

    Ammonia Burns on Goldfish?

Just giving another update. Avalon is doing worse but is still struggling very hard. Unfortunately, he's gotten to weak to eat the Metro Med and has been moved into our 3 gallon and started treating with General Cure. He is able to eat regular pellets as they are much smaller. I must...

    Ammonia Burns on Goldfish?

He's still going but I feel he's only gotten worse. I'm able to handfeed him but it takes a lot of effort on his part now to get the pellet in his mouth. Scales are noticeably sticking up too. I really feel its not dropsy, and he is still able to stay upright so for now his swimbladder is ok. I...

    Ammonia Burns on Goldfish?

When you say Prazi do you mean to use the General Cure? I see that it has Prazi in it. You warned earlier about using both that and Metro Med, and I don't want to misunderstand this. I've called every pet store around me and none have Prazi. Only one has anything that treats flukes but its some...

    Ammonia Burns on Goldfish?

Unfortunately I don't even have room for a bin that size. He is very small though so I'll try to feed him 2-3 pellets in the morning and again at night. As it is he eats at least 2 a day. He hasn't been treated for flukes. That was just one fish we put in QT. If, for instance, we do manage to...

    Ammonia Burns on Goldfish?

Still no significant change either way. He comes up to eat and gets hand fed at least 1 pellet but then goes back to the bottom to rest. Also, it appears that he's gotten a couple more small brown spots on his spine in between his dorsal fin and tail fin. They definitely weren't there before...

    Ammonia Burns on Goldfish?

Thanks, I'll do a water change later today. Not much improvement over yesterday sadly and his scales do appear a little rough. However I hand fed him MM this morning so I know he's still eating it.

    Ammonia Burns on Goldfish?

It's hard to be certain but I feel that his scales aren't lifted, but my girlfriend believes that they are very slightly raised but sometimes appear normal, and she usually has a better eye for these things than I do. Should we try treating him with API General Cure? If so I can move him into a...

    Ammonia Burns on Goldfish?

These are the last few Edit: If it helps, the cluster of brown spots are on his forehead in the center, right where the orange meets the white, and one brown spot on his left gill.

I just a did a 75% water change. Need further directions whenever you got an idea. I also want to point out that a believe he is swelling up and if you remember about a month ago you helped one of my other goldfish fight threw parasites and I want to know if you think it may be related to...

    Ammonia Burns on Goldfish?

I'll give you that info as soon as I get off work. Should I be ready to do a water change though? It's a 55 gallon with 4 goldfish. We do about 30% once a week and 50%once a month. I added 2 cups of salt because I've read that it helps to prevent parasites and that you should start off with a...
