yeah the lights have a cover on them...
my lights come on from mon-fri 5 pm - 12 am
sat/sun 12 pm - 12 am
what i can probably do is remove the lights to allow the open square holes for more aeration and get another powerhead to stir up the tank so i can add...
PH now at 8.0
Well one night after adding those hole lines and 1:30 of my lights being on when I came home my PH read 8.0. Cant be sure if it was just the lights coming on or the holes that i plugged into the zoo meds. I have the 228 model.
My PH hovers around 7.7-7.9. I read enough on these boards to not use the buffers to raise it up so i have been leaving it as is hoping that once my tank matures more it will go up.. my tank has been up for 3 months now.

what i learned was everytime i used prime or something that was to elminate ammonia, nitratesm nitrites my tank would get cloudy. If you just do it the natural way your tank will never go cloudy.. Live Rock Live Sand..etc
I have been using the kent marine buffer to achieve a PH of 8.3 as it states adding every down but for some reason my ph does not elevate and stays at 8.3 any suggestion
My tank is 125 Gallons 80 lbs LS and 15 lbs LR. Its been running for 2 months before i added any fish just had the shrimp and LR,LS.
Now that was the amazing part of all this. I do not understand how the damels from the LFS survive when i dumped in the bucket the PH measured from PH Monitor...
Everytime before i added fish i tried all the other methods and within hours or the following day the fish would croak. So I started my drip line after I purchased six damels and left it running for about 2.5 hours since I was no rush and they were in a big container. Well after the drip was...
A friend of mine who is doing a 125 gallon reef tank is considering purchasing for his sump tank. Is this a good price for a system or is this to pricey? Cost of this system is 470 + tax i believe. I started a FOWLR tank without a sump tank. I got a bunch of stuff hanging on the sides and...
DUDE I AM WIH YOU!!! I have had my tank up for almost 7 weeks and finally got the nitrites to show up a couple days ago with just a trace. Tested last night and i am at 5.0 of Nitrites 2.0 Amm and 2.0 Nitrates. So the cycle process is in full effect FINALLY!!..
I just bought some uncured live rock and put it in the tank. Never seen cured live rock before I got some tango rock? What does it look like when its cured.. Tank is in the cycle process so uncured rock will do it some good
At what point do the nitrites begin to flourish? my shrimp look like dried fruit right now and the Ammonia is at 2.0 level. Nitrites are at 0. Just looking for ball park nothing specific. Like when the shrimp are half decay just hoping I am doing something right for once
yeah i emptied it completely and just added new water. Added three decent sized shrimp not to big not to small. Added two cap fulls of prime and about 28 pounds of natural oceanic salt. Now just going to wait and let nature take its course.
your right it just converts it to a non toxic form. the problem was that when i poured the ammo-lock was like 4 weeks ago and i waited another 3 before testing to see if the ammonia would be elminated by the biological filter and nothing happened. checked again the following week and still...
I need cycle advice as everytime i put fish they seem to croak. I am trying to do a FO tank. Everytime i tested my last water my nitrates, nitrites were 0 but my Ammonia was high. I waited 8 weeks and nothing seemed to cure it. I tried ammo-lock and i think it made it worse. Last time i...
when starting a salt water FO aquarium what additive if any besides salt and some shrimp should i add into the tank. I read on this board that ammo-lock, prime and any other stuff should not be used is this correct. I plan to use bioenzyme as bacteria starter
I read on this board and seen recommendations but still unclear as to why the need for tons of circulation inside the tank just curious. Is it to get the water filtered better? or In saltwater tank movement provides more O2?
This is my 3 attempt at successfully having a saltwater aquarium. I have successfully done Tropical and Goldfish but each time i try salt my fish dont make it. This time i decided to go all out and purchased a Miluakee PH monitor and refractometer. My tank specs before i start
