actually when my tank is infested with ich, I just add salt, raise temperature and daily water changes, in just 1 week ich was completely gone.. I do not use any chemical treatments cause I cant afford to buy one, hehe..

I have some, they rip down some algaes.. But not totally they eat all algaes, just some..

I do the same thing, I just place a piece of a flat thing made of plastic or something, make some holes, and place it in the tank.

yes, having a background makes your tank nicer to look..

I suggest to you get some mollies they help in reducing some algae in your tank..
