    Keep finding snails upside down

I had a handful of turbos in my FOWLR. They kept doing the same thing. I decided it was not worth it to worry about it and got rid of them. I hear all kinds of stories of one of these guys dying and nuking an entire tank. I love my fish to much for that. Astreas are better in this area in...

Halogen lighting over aquariums? Why not?

Very Hot! Worse then halides (Pound for pound) in heat production. Would be like a spot light over your tank.

    How to clean used stuff?

If you want to recycle the live rock, Boil It... Boiling it means setting it in a tub of salt water for 2-3 months changing out about a third of water ever other week. This will create an environment that will exterminate most living creatures on the rock without losing all seed. It is safe...

    adding fish

Agree as well, but it also depends on the amount of live rock, if any, in your tank. If you have a heavy bio filter (a lot of rock-live that is) you can go week to week adding fish. Otherwise rely on your test kits.

    Reef & planted

No, not at all. I like the look of green in the reef. Many people prefer to utilize there main display space for corals and place there macros in a sump still using the benefits of its phosphate removal.

How do you guys power everything?

Power strips and a UPS back up in case the power kicks. You always want to keep the tanks heated and circulating somehow.

    low light anemonies

I understand what you are saying on this one. Thee are a lot of things in the hobby that people feel that they can get away with when it comes to meeting the requirements of a creature. Just keep in mind that this is only short term. Anemones don't have an expiration, but yours will. It is...

    Wrasses and Anemones

No you have too many samplers. If the wrasse doesn't try, the trigger will, If the trigger doesn't try the puffer will.

    garlic, how effective?

I probably would puffer. Get a new bulb and a ball valve to slow the water flow through the uv for maximum exposure to the bulb. 30 gallon is awfully small for a regal tang. Regals do have a tendancy to do a lot of scratching but they are also known to be very prone to ich. If I were you I...

Try something easier like a brittle star. Blue Linkia's are the harder to keep stars.

Harlequin Shrimp - anyone with experience.

a couple of years ago I was thinking about trying one. I did all the research and ended up not. I figured that I could by a star fish every month and segment it into about 20 or so pieces then freeze the parts after adding some selcon for vitamins.

    Neon Green on walls?

Seriousdude, 5 months sounds about right for this to start to happen. First you will see the flourescent green base and then pinks and purple encrusting shortly thereafter. Halides take a little bit longer as coraliine does better under less lighting and prefers the actinic (blue deepwater...

    Neon Green on walls?

For me I usually get this prior to coralline algae. For some reason this seems to be a base and then turns purple or pink in a couple weeks after I notice the green. I think it's kind of cool looking. How long has your tank been running?

    Canopy Construction: Advice much appreciated...

My wife and I decided that we would build a canopy for our fish tank together. I have done this before but never much cared for the end result. I would always throw together a smiple design just to cover the lighting and equipment on top of the tank. We decided this morning that we would go...

    "CORAL"

Agreed. The Magazine carries a theme every other month. It is a different concept when it comes to journalism. I kind of like it because you know the concentration of the issue. More then a magazine but less then a book. The pygmy angelfish issue was excellent.
