I currently have a 10 gallon fish tank. I started out with a tetra whisper pf10 but I wasn't too sure that it was going to be enough filtration. So I was recommended to add an aquaclear 20 to the filter that I already have. The owner said that you could never have enough filtration. So I cleaned...
The tank has been cycled. I have had it for a little over a month. It is a 10 gallon lightly planted tank. I also have three harlequin rasboras and a really tiny Pleco who will be rehomed when he gets too big. So I've kept an eye on him. Water temp is 78 degrees. I just put a test stick in there...
I bought a total of five black neon Tetras. One had passed within the first week. And now there's been one dead every morning. They lose their color about a day before. I now only have two left and have not lost any other fish.
What's going on? :/
I thought they were pretty social fish myself.
The owner of the store said he could have two or three guppies in there
But I didn't know if having so many males would cause aggression.
Thank you very much. Your advice has been very helpful. I thought it was a bad idea. But I definitely don't know everything. I seemed to be a very trustworthy store since my mom and her partner have been getting fish from there for years and know the owner very well.
However the owner of the...
His tank was cycled. We did the "dirty bomb" method. Where we squeezed a dirty filter and let it cycle through this tank. Also his tank is not planted but there are a vairity of fake plants in there as he did not want to take care of the plants.
He said at first when he put them in there they...
Would it be okay for him to keep them for now until we can get an upgrade for him. The swordtails are considerably small for now and he never sees his kuhli loaches.
Would a few guppies be okay for the tank?
You could get low light easy to maintain plants.
I have a 10 gallon and that's what I decided to do. I don't have anything too fancy or a co2 pump.
just an option to think about.
I also typed in your problem in the google bar and it gave me this website with a list and symptoms and treatments.
Discus Fish Diseases
hope that helps
I personally don't have any experience in housing these fish in my tank.
but my moms friend has had all sorts of problems with her discus fish to the point where she stopped trying to keep them. They are exposed to so many external and internal diseases and parasites.
My little brother won two goldfish from the carnival and it sparked his interest to get tropical fish. His goldfish didn't last very long so those are not included into the tank
Our LFS told him that he could have
(2) swordtails male and female
Kuhli loaches
(3-4) shrimp.
In my opinion...
The tank float method has always worked for me. Because my tank is eatablished i dont like to mix store water into my tank. I usually foat and let a little bit of my tank water into their bags a little at a time and drain the fish into a net and welcome them fully into my tank.
When I was growing up my mother always had her 55 gallon tank. I loved watching the tank. I started out with small.tanks and just got bigger and bigger. Its definately been a lifelong hobby. (:
I have had my 10 gallon tank for a while now. Currently I have a lightly planted tank with
5 Harlequin rasboras
3 kuhli loaches (which ive heard are nice for 10 gallons)
Some tetras seem to do well in 10 gallons as well
I have live plants with plant substrate. It's a little rough, that's another thing I was worried about. I was told by a friend who has a little larger tank than I do that they are great for 10 gallons. Currently I have a baby Pleco and Harlequin razboras (5 of them)
I've read a lot of places online that have different tank size requirements for loaches. But I was wondering if it would be safe to have one in a 10 gallon tank.
