I bought a pair of dwarf gourami about 3 weeks ago and put them in my community tank. All was fine they were both swimming about happily and peacefully with the other fish.
Then about 4 days ago the male decided to hang about in one corner of the tank, at the top where there are some floating...
Temp 26, lights 8 hours per day, tap water ok, slightly less after 25% water change, normally 25% every week, tank has been running the same for about 9 months, only new stock is a pair of dwarf gouramis about 3 weeks ago.
Can anyone help please? I have nitrite of 0, nitrate of 5 -so far so good, but my ammonia is 0.5 despite several water changes. Also the water seems to be very slightly cloudy. What can I do?
I bought some micro worm culture and carefully followed instructions, eventually after about 2 weeks I scraped some of the 'goo off the sides of the container and it killed most of my cory fry:( can you see the micro worms - i couldn't even with a magnifying glass. What am i doing wrong.
O.K. so this is really weird! I tested water at Dads and everything ok, bu the boys looked so miserable hiding in the corner behind the filter that I brought them home. Here's the strange bit, I put them in my community tank so that I could keep an eye on them and they were behaving the same, so...
I am going over tomorrow with test kit. But all other fish are fine. No sign of any aggression from the tetras. I agree, I sounded like ammonia to me, but wouldn't that affect the others?
My elderly Dad has a small tank that I set up and cycled for him. He has had it since since Xmas with 3x silver tip tetras, 3x neon tetras and 2x of my young peppered corys. All going great then he said he wanted a couple of my male guppys (I've got loads) but since I put them in his tank (2...
One of my male guppys has been developing a bent back, downwards and sideways. Now he seems to have a job swimming properly, but still eats ok. Can i do anything to help him, and what could be the cause of this.

I'm completely baffled!! I don't want to buy the fish that my elderly Dad wants (silver tip tetras and/or neon tetras) until I know thy'll be ok, and xmas is approaching fast
I don't think it's a new environment problem 'cos when I put them back into my other tank that was new to them too as they had never been in that tank before and they were ok in 10 mins.
Heater is ok I've even swapped thermometers to make sure.
I have a small internal filter that has a flow rate of 200 lph which ripples the surface, I also tried an airstone as well but that didn't make any difference.
The fish are just hiding in the weeds or by the heater and filter, also they won't eat. The other fish didn't eat for 3 days but 1/2 an...
I have got a small 35 ltr (10 gal) tank for my Dad. I have cycled it - readings have been stable for over a week now and are the same as my 4 other established tanks. I thought I would put 3 of my young female guppys in it just to finish any cycling needed and they were just hanging about and...
I am setting up a small 36 liter (10 gal) tank for my elderly dad who has mild dementia. I took him to the lfs and he fell in love with the silver tip tetras. My question is can I have just 3 of these and 3 neon tetras - will they shoal together? I don't think I should have more than 6...
