    Mystery Snails - Calcium

From what I have read, the reptile vitamins and feeders aren't recommended for snails because many of them contain copper, and that's no good for snails. My tank has a nice covering of algae on the glass, which I don't clean off very often so the snails always have something to eat. But I...

    Mystery Snails - Calcium

While the shells are cracked, I don't see any of the snail's soft body inside, so I don't think I will have to patch the shells. I've added some cuttlefish bone to the tank, so hopefully that will prevent any further damage to the shells. I've read that once damage has been done to the shell...

    Mystery Snails - Calcium

Mum says that we have TUMS in Australia, so they could be an option... but I was wondering if anyone had any thoughts about the weekend feeders, or if they could recommend any brands of feeders that could be useful for this?

    Mystery Snails - Calcium

I will take a closer look the next time I am in the supermarket, but looking on Google at the packaging, I can say I have never seen them before in our supermarkets. We have Mylanta for heartburn, but it's ingredients are entirely different when comparing them side by side.

    Mystery Snails - Calcium

Hopefully this is the right place for this thread. I know it has been asked a million times - calcium for Mystery Snails for good shell growth - but I the answers I'm reading are really only confusing me, particularly when products are mentioned and I don't know if they're available in...

Cycling my 60 Gallon tank - Are these readings normal?

Thanks, flitabout. My ammonia has arrived and I have started dosing the tank again (after having some fishfood in it) so hopefully it won't be long now until the cycle has finished. :)

Cycling my 60 Gallon tank - Are these readings normal?

So the fluctuations I have been experiencing with my nitrItes the last couple of days have been normal? How it drops down to practically nothing, only to surge back up to 5ppm or greater the following day?

Cycling my 60 Gallon tank - Are these readings normal?

I had enough ammonia to add to the tank today, so I have my fingers crossed that the new stuff will arrive tomorrow. If not, I will try putting some fish food in a media bag. I have been advised against using a shrink or anything dead in the tank as a source of ammonia because it runs the risk...

Cycling my 60 Gallon tank - Are these readings normal?

Doing further reading, I have read that it is necessary to shake the test bottles... not only the test tubes. Woops. So, these are today's readings, approximately 2.5hours after I administered more ammonia to the tank. pH = 7.6 NitrIte = 5ppm NitrAte = 80ppm Ammonia = 2ppm (I cannot add more...

Cycling my 60 Gallon tank - Are these readings normal?

Hello! Firstly, I would like to shout out and say, THANKYOU to eco23 for his fishless cycle guide. It was just what I needed! I'm in the process of cycling my 60 gallon tank. I started it on July 27, and I have kept a journal of my readings ever since I started it. I have plants in my tank...
