This substrate she has now is way to big for any fish to get in it's mouth. Basically large smooth stones. Very hard to siphon out

I'm the same way but with African cichlids. Her substrate is a size above pea gravel. I had nothing to do with that, I would've used a smaller substrate. But that was her choice. I'm gonna try and change that when I can change the fish also

The goldfish were thrown in there to start the cycle process and then mom didn't want to get rid of them of course. Eventually ill find a way to get them out

So maybe one gouromi and some tetras? What about tiger or green barbs? Or a rainbow shark or Cory cats?

My mom has a 55 gal boring tank with a couple fancy hippies and a Damarion mollie and a couple little goldfish. She doesn't want to get rid of them. What other cooler fish can I add to the tank? Angels, gouromi, some type of tetra? Help!

So I've already got the crushed coral because I got a steal in it. But would sand be better? I've got two canister filters running on the tank and the intakes are pretty close to the bottom of the tank right now so I'm worried sand could get sucked up into the filters and that could be bad

Ok thanks for the advice! I just think they will be much happier with a substrate they can dig around in and it will look better and it's easier to clean IMO

Yeah it will definetly take me a while to make the change over. I just don't want the fish to be terribly stressed. But they shouldn't if most of the old water is placed back in the tank right

I've got two canister filters on it. One made for a 100 gal and the other for 180 gal. Should be plenty of seeded media in them plus all the lace rock I have in the tank should have a decent amout of bacteria in it

I want to change out my pebble rock substrate for crushed coral in my african 75 gallon. But I'm not sure how to go about it. Would the best way be to take all the fish and rocks and decor out and put them in a container with air stone and switch out the pebbles with the crushed coral and fill...

Oh yea I'm big into Africans. I love them. I've got a 75 gal with a bunch in it. One day I want to be set up to breed professionally. But I just like to sit back and watch them fly around the tank it's so cool. And it's right beside my bed so ill watch them before I go to sleep too haha

What are the differences in f-1 f-2 and so on? What does that stand for and all? Is f-1 a better strain than f-3 or what? Someone fill me in !! :)
