    Gassy Goldie

Just to clarify - how long should I fast for before starting on veggies?

    Gassy Goldie

Thanks - I'll try fasting. Just a note - none of my fish are from the stores you mentioned. I'm in Australia and we don't have those stores. About a third of my fish are rescues from people who didn't look after them, including Goldie.

    Gassy Goldie

Thank you! I've been having trouble getting help via this forum, so really appreciate you responding. Did the fasting work for you? Goldie is very chipper and isn't acting sick. I had a mild panic the first night and thought about taking him to the vet in North Melbourne that treats fish, but...

    Gassy Goldie

Please help! Goldie has a bloated tummy. His tummy is soft to the touch and there is no pineconing. Goldie is fed NLS sinking pellets for breakfast, a defrosted fish dinner such as krill or blood worms for dinner and a veggie for supper. I'm really worried [emoji32]

Injured Oranda Rescue - Advice for Recovery?

She's a gorgeous fish and very lucky she found you!! I've read on this forum that many people think Melafix doesn't do anything to help fish. I think your hefty water changes did the world of good! I'm so please she's doing better :-) Sent from my iPhone using Aquarium Advice

Is my new fish bullying my old one?

I think the main problem is your tank is too small and the fish are stressed and getting territorial. I had a similar problem with one of my fish, and as soon as I moved the group to a much larger tank, the issue immediately disappeared. Sent from my iPhone using Aquarium Advice

    Swim Bladder Problem (Comet Goldfish)

Hi there, I recommend the following, which help my goldfish: 1. Good quality sinking pellets such as New Life Spectrum. 2. Plus a range of other foods such as worms and frozen brine shrimps. 3. Deshelled/skinned peas. I give my fish peas as a bed time treat every night. It is their favourite...

    Help with this Nitrate reading

Have you cleaned the filter lately? Rinsed the sponge and other media with old aquarium water? I normally find my nitrates creep up as the filters become due for a clean. Sent from my iPhone using Aquarium Advice

    Strange parasite activity

I find the following foods very good for my goldfish, and your little fellow might thrive on them, too: - New Life Spectrum pellets for goldfish (the sinking type). - Frozen Brine Shrimps. - Frozen Blood Worms. - A vegetable frozen meal called 'Veggie Time". - A frozen meal called "Goldfish...

Gus the goldfish - neurological damage?

I bought him as a fantail, but I think Gus is a bit of a mix because he has a slight wen growing. Gus is full of personality - he likes nothing better than a quite nap or when awake, watching my every move through the hair grass! Sent from my iPhone using Aquarium Advice

    Strange parasite activity

How old is the little guy? He is terribly thin - could it be internal parasites as you originally thought? I've never used Prazipro, but wonder if a second course might be worth a try, if he was getting better on it. I've never seen bubble coverage like that on a fish. Could it have something...

Gus the goldfish - neurological damage?

Hi there - not a stupid question at all. That idea has struck me too - that Gus just happens to sleep in weird positions. He certainly loves his naps, and will often find a quiet corner of the tank. Sent from my iPhone using Aquarium Advice

Gus the goldfish - neurological damage?

Dear Matt Thank you for your advice. For a longtime, Gus has been fed NLS pellets for breakfast and then a frozen meal for dinner. He gets peas everyday. His dorsal and other fins seem ok - no smaller than those of my other fancy goldfish. Today I worried all day about him when at work. He...
