Thanks for all your suggestions! I purchased the Finnex Fugeray planted 12" LED light. I figured it's better for my plants to have this light then the other stronger lights you posted for the shimmer effect. Hopefully it works out!

The tank is 8 gallons actually, but I do see your point.. Not enough water left to mix well with untreated water. Looks like I'll stick with to the bucket method.

I think you might have misread my post about lighting. I go for 4 hours on, then 4 hours OFF, then 5 hours on again. Yeah 13 hours would be crazy haha.

What fert do you recommend I buy for my plants to go with excel? Thanks for your suggestions by the way!

I'm not using anything else other than Excel. Also, no my 3 Ottos and snails seem to manage the algae. I do have a case of the black beard algae but it seems to be going away with the use of excel.
