    Cleaner Shrimp

Being in Australia...Aren't there any local fish you have access to? And why so expensive in Aus.? You're surrounded by SW, plus Great Barrier Reef. That seems strange to me that it is so expensive there. I guess I figured wrong?!?! :?:

It's really best if you are at 12 - 13... It will also keep your PH from dropping.

    New tank started up today

Some people run carbon constantly and others only put it in when the water starts to yellow because the carbons adsorbs good and bad things. Depending on what you are doing with your tank will determine what you do with your carbon. I have a FOWLR system so I run my carbon constantly.

To add or not to add?

When I started my 75 I used 110 lbs. of all cured LR and had a little spike of ammon. on day 2-3 and that was it for my cycle. After 1 month tank is doing great. Have 2 Oc. Clowns and a Purple Tang in the tank. I had a little incident with some green hair algae, but that is pretty much gone now.

Best way to perform Water change

I have a 75 and do a 4 Gal. chg every 2 weeks which = a little more than 10% p/month. It takes me about 5 minutes. I siphon out 4 gal. into a bucket. (rinse any equipment that needs cleaning in this water) Then I just keep 1 gal. jugs of premade salt water and pour into tank 1 gal. at a time...

    PH and algae growth

See my Chia Pet thread in same forum...I'm having same prob, but my PH is 8.4, so I don't think so...It usually is due to Phosphate in your water PO4. I just put PhosBan in my cannister filter this morning...We'll see if it works...You should also make sure there is no phosphate in your water...
