I have Fluval 306 and Emperor 400 HOB in my 55 gal,both are fantastic ...Fluval is great...flow rate is great and you can customize media baskets...water clarity is top notch since I'm using purigen as a last stage of filtration...big plus of canisters is also how quiet they are, you can't hear...

Got my son a 10gal tank with marineland 150b filter. I was thinking about getting 5 neon tetras 5 glo danios rerio and 5 ghost shrimp. Tank is cycling now . Will stock like that work?

First I would suggest that you cycle the tank before you get the fish...there is a great thread to explain fishless cycling... -filter canisters are great I'm using Fluval 306 in 45gal and works awesome -Prime is always a first choice of water treatment when doing water changes big plus is...
