Molly not showing interest in breeding with other types of mollies

That would be alright except you really need to watch the males with a single female. We have breeder tanks that we place the mommas in with a male. After they're done, we remove the male and return momma to her own tank. This way the boys don't overbreed the females & stress them out.

Molly not showing interest in breeding with other types of mollies

Sadly this is actually a natural thing. Some females only allow same color to mate with them, some males only insist on mating with a yellow female, or a pink female. It's kind of hit & miss, but I definitely have selective breeders here too.

How far along are these mollys

Balloon molly are next to impossible to guess for me. I do watch for the "o" shape of the female's hole. I also look for cornered behavior, rapid up & down swimming, excessive hiding, and/or squaring. Usually I'm within 72 hours of birth so fairly decent but not spot on as I am with the guppy...

    To many babies

I breed molly, platy, and guppy. All for specific pairings & colors. Once I feel like we have too many to rationally sell or raise we let them birth in the tank. Survival of the fittest, natural style. Some make it. Some don't. I'm ok with that. We watch to make sure the males don't harass the...

    Platies

I have had this happen. The same female birthed one week apart. 59 fry in total.

    Need help breeding Platies

2 females are not enough for one male. You need at least one more female, ideally 2-3. I like to keep my ratio around 1:5. Feed the females high quality food. Quality flakes, brine shrimp, bloodworms, mysis shrimp, etc...without proper nutrition they need post partem they suffer huge amounts...

How close is she to having fry

What do you feed your expecting mothers? We have had great luck feeding quality flakes, blood worms, brine shrimp, and mysis shrimp as a whole diet.

    Welcome...

Should have a bunch of gold dust in there eventually. Some are already starting to lighten up in their head region. Otherwise mostly blacks I would think as well. The sire is black. I figured out who momma was, she's a medium sized gold dust molly.

    Welcome...

Say welcome to the world! 16 fresh born babies this morning, after much surprise! Someone had babies that wasn't supposed to yet. Just goes to show, sometimes even the most experienced livebearer raiser can't even predict when babies will be born. Some surprises DO happen. Don't mind the 4...

When to let fry out of the breeder box? (Endlers)

When the ladies show "square" I move them to the breeder box. They birth in the box typically overnight (about 85% of my births happen once the lights go out). In the morning I move the fry to my 2 gallon infant tank. They learn to eat and get stronger & bigger here. Once they start getting...

    Steps to breeding guppies

Add male to females. Watch mate. (Assume if from pet store, all females are pre hit already). Watch bellies grow. Once \__/ shaped, either move to brood box, brood net, or allow to naturally give birth. Enjoy your fry!

    Cloudy water?

Mine all the sudden did this, tests all normal. I waited a month, (still did regular 20% changes) in case it was a bacterial bloom, didn't do any good. I ended up doing a 100% water change and kept the same filter in for media. Worked great. Tank has been running excellent ever since!

    Pregnant Dalmatian molly?

It's very obvious in sexually mature platy or molly. It's quite large. The females are "chubbier" looking, more round. The males have that characteristic "male peacock" look to them. Puffed out, territorial. Typically always chasing something...my smallest black molly male LOVES my blue dwarf...

Should I breed my five male guppies

Males do not breed together. If you want fry, you must purchase females. If you have 5 males, I suggest 15 females minimum. Or regime some, or trade for females.

How many fry do fancy guppies have

Anywhere from 4-45 in my experience, but I've heard crazy #s too, 60-80.
