    Guppies fungus?? Pics

I noticed some of the guppies in my big tank showing the first symptoms, since none of the meds I ordered are here yet, I tried swabbing their mouth with full strength potassium permanganate. So far, it seems to have done the trick! Normally when I first notice a few white spots it only takes...

    Guppies fungus?? Pics

The MG was in a 30 minute dip/bath with salt, the tank has lots of cherry shrimp and I didn't want to risk them with any treatments, I've already stressed them enough salting and adding melafix and pimafix to the tank. ( amazingly they seem to be doing fine ) I also tried a dip with potassium...

    Guppies fungus?? Pics

Just want some help determining what this actually is. It starts at their lips and spreads rapidly, within hours, across the head and eyes, leading to death within 24 hours. It is contagious, a guppy with no symptoms bought from a different store two weeks before now shows symptoms. Only...

Identify this algae, green dust or green spot?

That was my number one guess, it's awful! I can scrape every day and the next day it's back. Actually if I don't use the mag float every day the only thing that will take it off is a blade. My snails eat some of it, but never really get ahead. How long does this stuff take to run its course?

Identify this algae, green dust or green spot?

I've been fighting this algae in my big tank for months! I dose mix my own ferts and dose daily. Lights are on around 9 hours a day. (4 bulb T-5 HO, 2 Zoo Med plant bulbs, 2 10k daylight bulbs) CO2 injection is enough to just make the plants pearl. Drop checker right in the green zone. I've...

RCS found a few dead recently?

Well, still losing some. 1-2 daily, some are berried females. My two huge, dark red females seem to be doing fine. I've added cuttle bone, no help. Nitrates constantly test high, but they always have, even the first 6 months when I was seeing no losses. However tap water tests 0 or nearly so...

    Bueno Aires Tetra Alternative?

So, I have 9 buenos aires tetras in my 55 gal tank. I love the fish, they are active, and schooling. But! If I am late feeding them, they destroy my plants, and it would be nice for my snails to have antenna again! I may keep them, but does anyone know of a good, active, schooling fish around...

RCS found a few dead recently?

Yep, that's what it is, I have them in all my tanks now. They don't require anything really, it grew with low light, no co2, no fertilizer. I don't vacuum, so it may get nutrients that way. Once it took hold it grew really fast, easiest plant I have. It has a big root system, so I would...

RCS found a few dead recently?

I keep my temp around 26-27, I had read that they can live for up to two years. They molt pretty easily, and breed like crazy. I lost maybe 3 more, but nothing major. If something caused it, they seem to have adjusted, or the water conditions stabilized. My luck has always been they molt...

    Identification of this filter feeder.

Also might be a flower shrimp, very similar, but I would agree bamboo. Make sure to feed him, he shouldn't have to pick at the substrate or decor for food, crush up an algae wafer real fine and he will filter it out of the water.

RCS found a few dead recently?

Just a quick question. But a rather long post to make sure I cover all the info. I have a planted 10 gallon tank. I had a big problem keeping shrimp alive in this tank for a long time, finally I realized not to worry about what the ph was, just make sure it was stable. It's been cycled for...

    Otocinclus with narcolepsy???

Nope, it just wherever he is, almost on a 3-5 second timer, swim for a few seconds, floating like a stick for a few. Like someone was shocking him with electricity or something

    Otocinclus with narcolepsy???

Yes, it's well established, I set it up in July I think, 55 gallons. It's my 3rd tank, I think I need a support group (aquarists anonymous). I thought he died but it was one of the others. I always have a few otos that don't make it, they are cheap and the local pet store has a bad filter...

    Otocinclus with narcolepsy???

Ok, sometimes google doesn't find everything you search for, especially the most bizarre. I got some new oto's about a week or so ago, the moment I put them in the tank I figured one would die. He would swim for a few second then just fall to the bottom of the tank and float in the current...
