I feed mine with a turkey Baster or hand feed to make sure he gets fed. Mine comes out religiously at 8 pm or anytime good enters the tank. He definitely likes the night time. :)

I would definitely not recommend that. They are not meant to be in a community, it is going to struggle to get fed, will likely harass the angels and guppies, and stress itself and other fish.

I've seen them carried at stores in San Antonio but they're not as common as BGK.

I think general consensus is that they are fairly slow growers. I've had mine 3 months and it's grown about 1/4-1/2".

IMO Bolivian Rams are quite underrated. Much easier to keep and color up very nicely and have fun little attitudes. :)

I agree with Nils above, in a 28g you could have several. Assuming they will be the only fish in the tank.

Hi I am looking to change my substrate in all of my tanks from aquarium gravel to PFS. I did this is one tank and already I am kicking myself for not putting in some type of soil under the sand. What is the most cost effective "soil" or substrate I could put under the PFS to support plant growth?

Ah gotcha. I was thinking column tanks were the ones with a small base but a lot of height. Seems like a fun idea for a tank. I don't have any experience with the nano fish but it seems like it would work.

What type of rainbows? I think you'd be fine in a 4'. I'm setting up a 75g and planning on keeping rainbows in it. I'm sure 6' is always the best option but not always feasible. How many rainbows do you have?
