    Poorly guppy

So after having a platy with a tumour I now have a guppy with a shredded tail. Water parameters fine and everyone else fine. He's eating and swimming fine and otherwise acting normally. I've just got back from a week away and all was fine when I left. I have noticed occasional bullying from the...

    Baby cory sucked up syphon!

Was doing a pwc as usual. Never saw anything untoward. Was just tipping out the bucket and I noticed my cory baby! I've rescued him and put him back into the main tank. He seems ok. Has anyone else done this? Will he be ok? Also had a adf end up in the sink as he hitched a ride on the cleaning...

    Lump on platy

Not the best pic but this is a 2 year old platy. She has a black lump near her head. Kinda hard to see in the pic but it's like a protrusion of some sort. She is acting more skittish than usual and hiding a lot. Any ideas? Oh she's pregnant as well, but that's nothing new Sent from my iPhone...

    Surprise birth

So after many attempts to raise cory fry I gave up. Just glanced over at my community tank and noticed a 1.5cm cory baby swimming about! It has survived platys, guppys, adf's, corys and ottos (no threat from them but still!). I know my tank is heavily planted so it's obviously hidden well but...

    Weird stuff in tank

This stuff is on plant leaves and my cave. It's browny black. Looks fluffy is and stands out. Best pic I could get. Ammonia 0, nitrite 0, nitrate 10ppm. Tank running almost 2 years. Sent from my GT-I9505 using Aquarium Advice mobile app

    Water changes

I have 3 few day old Cory fry in a large tupperware with a air tube with filter pad over the end (kinda a make shift filter). I'm doing twice daily 90% water changes. Feeding 3 4 times a day bit only a tint amount. Is this enough pwc to keep ammonia down? Don't want to cycle as they will be...

    Cory babies

I have my first successful hatching! I have about 35 fertilised eggs. The first one has hatched this morning and is free swimming. How long do they feed off their yolk sack? How d they know which is there's (probably a stupid question but just wondering) and will they be OK for now in a 9 inch...

    Platy fry

My platy gave birth to 30+ fry. I put then straight into a breeder net. They have literally all died? Is this likely stress related or premature birth? They did look small. She gave birth to like 3 at a time too? Have a distraught 4 year old :( Sent from my GT-I9505 using Aquarium Advice...

    Platys at top

I have 8 platys. They randomly keep at the top of the tank. They aren't gasping or anything,, just hovering at the top of the water. Ammonia 0, nitrite 0, nitrate 10-20. Don't numerous pwc every few days to check wasn't an oxygen issue but it makes no difference. Temp stable. They swim down for...

    Cory eggs round 2

Posted a week or so ago about my first rescued Cory eggs. None hatched within a week, then they developed a fungus. Today I have go 30+ Cory eggs just been laid. I've separated them and directed a power head onto the eggs. I've ordered a sponge filter but it hasn't arrived yet so I'm doing daily...

    Cory eggs

So my corys spawned for the 4th time and they never survive more that an hour in my community tank (platys and adfs) so today I've rescued the eggs and placed them in a breeder net. I've got about 30 eggs. Some already have what looks like a dark spot in the centre. Don't know if this good or...

    Surprise fry

Well I just caught a glimpse of 2 surprise fry. Most likely parents are platys. Rare find as even though I have 7 female, 3 male platys in my tank, my adf and corys usually ear any fry. They darted off under a large plant. Managed to get a pic of one of them though. Never had black fry before...

    Best fish to raise fry

So basically are there any fish that are good parents? I have platys, corys and adf but these all eat their own and each others babies :( are there any fish that won't eat their babies? Sent from my GT-I9505 using Aquarium Advice mobile app

    Help!

I've just done a routine pwc on my 20g juwel aquarium. As usual I turned filter pump off during. Went to switch it back on after and it won't start? Not blocked as rinsed media out last week. Worked fine up til now. It's 18 month old. Thanks Sent from my GT-I9505 using Aquarium Advice mobile app

    Breeding corys

My peppered corys are breeding for the first time. The female is actively laying eggs as I type. The problem is, one over zealous male got in the way and now had 2 eggs stuck to his nose! Do I need to do anything or will they just drop off? Sent from my GT-I9505 using Aquarium Advice mobile app

Peppered Cory. Bit of a long one

I have 3 peppered cories. All got at same time. 1 is bigger than other 2. Recently the smaller 2 chase the bigger one and they seem to nuzzle each other. Is this mating or playing or fighting? Sent from my GT-I9505 using Aquarium Advice mobile app

    Injured adf

I've had my adf over a year now. I noticed a while ago that one was holding its leg funny but assumed it was just injured somehow. But been a while now and it still holds it out straight like this. She can still reach the surface and surprisingly can swim quite well. Has anyone had anything...

    How is this possible?

So? I'm really careful with my pwc making sure to dechlorinate, match temp, rinse filter in old tank water. My friend on the other hand has two 9 year old goldfish. These are in a BOWL for a start! They about 4-5 inch each so quite big. She had them from babies. Now, she cleans them every 1-3...

    Adf out of water

So today I found one of my adf literally hopping along my kitchen floor. This is over at least 5 meters plus a 1.5 meter drop from tank. Only opportunity to escape was a pwc 2 days ago! How has it survived so long? It is in a bad way. Looks dehydrated and no energy. I have fed and re...

    Platys

Not long now I don't think. Only ever had 5 fry survive. Hoping we get more this time now that there more hiding places. Think my adf just eat them straight away. Sent from my GT-I9505 using Aquarium Advice mobile app

    Platy fry

So my 4 platy fry are nearly 3 month old and still tiny. They were in a breeder net feeding 3-4 times a day a mix of crushed flakes twice a day and cyclops/daphnia once a day. These are my first fry so I don't know where I'm going wrong but they just not growing. 2 are orange like the parents...

    Corys

I have a 20g with 8 platy, 4 fry and 7 adf. I love corys but am I right in thinking they need to be in groups? If so I won't have enough room (will be upgrading when I have enough funds) Also would they even get along with my adf? Sent from my GT-I9505 using Aquarium Advice mobile app
