I've actually been wondering what to do in the event of a tank that's "too clean". I'm using everything I can think of to keep the parameters spot on and if it ends up too much what should I do? Add more fish? Feed more?

Im not trying to do either, I'm trying to learn from people's experiences.

So I'm getting stuff together for my first planted build and was wondering if there are any unwritten rules about planted tanks. Stuff such as, never use activated carbon, or all air stones are bad... Etc.. Stuff like that is stuff I'd like to know.

Well I've had it with reliability since literally everything has fallen apart for me this past week. I'll end up going for Eheim and perhaps get a Sunsun on the side for mechanical or something.

Im very tempted by the price, I could probably find two SunSun's for the price of one 2215. But the reliability and build quality of an Eheim, plus the glowing reviews for them. Decisions, decisions...

Blimey, I'm getting flashbacks to my FX6... Never want to carry something like that again. I'll be using a powerhead if necessary, I think.

Well I'm pretty new to planted tanks but am I right in thinking that flow isn't completely integral to them? This coming from an African Cichlid guy who needs 15x turnover..

Hmm, not much movement there. I have a bunch of small powerheads around which I can definitely use. Can you fit much media in SunSun's?

Well I don't bother testing Am or Trites so I just assume they're undetectable. Trates have always hovered around the 1ppm mark, and that's with a Clown and a Royal Gramma as my fish stock. I guess that's where I want to be considering I'm only keeping Softies. I might go with the sponges...

This is for my 10G Reef, with around 13lbs LR. I recently picked up a new HoB and have used up the slot cartridge thingies which came with it. In the 4 'compartments' it has I'm now running a bag of Purigen, Carbon and GFO. Basically, I hate having empty space which could be made useful. So...
