    Green terror laid eggs

You better take that poor Oscar out. Try doing a water change. It's good for the fry

    Green terror laid eggs

I think you should remove your Oscar soon. Either the dempseys will kill him or he'll eat the babies

    Green terror laid eggs

    How big is your tank?

    Green terror laid eggs

That's why I've been trying to tell you that they're jack dempseys

    Green terror laid eggs

    Are they both jack dempseys?

    Seeking exotic fish

I would do 2 males and 4-6 females depending on how heavily planted or how many hiding spots you can give them.

Is it possible for a firemouth and a Dempsey to reproduce?

Cons are very prolific but they can't hybridize with almost all cichlids. As I stated earlier CA cichlids can hybridize and as far as SA cichlids I've only seen Festae and red ceibal to cross with a con.

Dwarf puffers are very slow and they need to be fed live food but you can train them on frozen food. I suggest getting some MTS (Malaysian trumpet snails). Adding tank mates for your puffer isn't suggested because they will nip on anything moving. You can't have fast fish because the puffers...

Is it possible for a firemouth and a Dempsey to reproduce?

Oscars are South American. South American cichlids are not as closely related to each other as Central American cichlids are. SA cichlids can't even crossbreed with each other. But there is another exception that I forgot. I recently came across an australoheros sp. red ceibal which is SA that...

    Seeking exotic fish

I'm not trying to argue here and I'm just speaking from experience. I've kept 6 dwarf/pea puffers In a heavily planted 10gal. I would see the occasional chase but nothing too serious. I occasionally saw fry but they got eaten.

    Seeking exotic fish

That's why I suggested make it planted. Puffers are already aggressive but with their speed and size they can't really do that much damage to each other with adequate coverage(plants). And I did suggest pea puffers which only grow up to 1" as an adult and maybe push to 1.5".

    Betta Breeding

Have you kept betta fry before? Cause if you're gonna be putting them in a bowl I think you haven't. The least I would keep them is a 5 gallon tank with a small sponge filter and an air pump you can control.

    Looking for suggestions

Killifish. Make sure you get 1:3 male:female ratio. They're great fish and very interactive. Whenever there's a slight disturbance on the surface the swim over to investigate. They also like to rest under floating plants so having something like duckweed or very tall jungle val will help them...

    Neon Tetras and schooling.

From all the tetras I've kept I would say that rummynose form the tightest schools comfortable or not. I would say neon tetras are more of a shoaling species which means that they don't have to be in a tight group together but need to be within arms(fins?) reach so they can school when...

Just make it planted and get 10-20 dwarf puffers.

Is it possible for a firemouth and a Dempsey to reproduce?

FM and JD's are both Central American cichlids which means they can spawn. All CA cichlids including the festae can hybridize. But with most hybrid CA cichlids the males are infertile. Just make sure you label them correctly if ever you try to sell them or give them away. I can't wait to see the...

+1 Your fish will thank you for this.

New apartment water is pH 8.6, options?

Driftwood. If you can put as much in there without making the tank look overcrowded then do it. Indian almond leaves also lowers ph but leeches off tannins.

And if there is no male in the tank with her then the eggs are just gonna turn white and she'll end up eating them.

    Filtration

That too. As long as you're fish are fine with the flow I say go for the fx5.

    Filtration

I have an fx5, eheim 2217 and an ac 110 on my 135. Unless I can lessen the output of the water I won't put an fx5 on a tank less than 5'
