    Red belly piranha help

You have another fish in with the piranhas? I can't see that ending well, though I never tried keeping other fish with mine other than white cloud mountain minnows, which would slowly be eaten.

    Red belly piranha help

Actually I have a tip for you, they may take chunks out each other at some point, so have a hospital tank ready because they will gang up and cannabilize any injured fish. If you can't afford to set up a hospital tank, get a plastic basket with holes in it from the dollar store, you can protect...

    Red belly piranha help

Unfortunately, I didn't trade them at that size, that's how I know they will get aggressive lol. I traded them around 9 inches, and I think I got 45$ in store credit, but tbh I would have gave them away for free so that they wouldn't be danger of becoming a meal for one of their siblings...

    Tank stands

The stands at the LFS or pet smart are designed to handle the weight of the tank. The rule of thumb is that each gallon of water that your tank is rated for is equal to roughly 10 pounds. Do you really want to trust over 700 pounds on top of something that was designed to hold a TV? That said...

    Red belly piranha help

I wouldn't know how to advise you on that, I sold mine for store credit at a local fish store. If you must ship them I would recommend shipping them packed individually so to avoid aggression and in something or than a bag, as they will tear open a bag.

    Red belly piranha help

I kept 6 piranha in a 75 gallon for a few years. 75 is not nearly big enough and I had to give up half of them after about a year and ahalf. (I got them at around the size of a nickel) Even with only 3, I could tell they were depressed in my 75, as they were dull in colour and didn't swim a...

    Acclimization Process

So I had a Bristlenose Pleco die on me within 16 hours of release into my tank. My parameters N03 <20ppm N02 0ppm GH ~150 KH ~80 PH ~7 ammo 0 Temp 76 I tested the water in the store bag and it was roughly the same except the kH was off the charts high. I figured I would acclimatize very...

Red Gills - Tried Everything w/details

Thanks for the quick replies guys. Yes, the test kit is fairly new. I acquired it last week, my tank has been cycled and running for years without a hitch. I bought the test specifically because I thought there must be a problem with the tap water, either ammonia or nitrites. The tap water...

Panda Corys with pinkish gills and lateral lines.

Hi guys, I recently added a group of 9 Panda corys to my established tank, and they seemed fine from Sunday when I got them until today (Thursday). I notices them swimming strangely, they are surfing up and down the glass walls and swimming mid level a lot. It was my understanding that these...

    Need Help with odd situation.

Thanks Mae, I had never considered goldfish, but I will be looking into them now, they would solve the temperature problem, and if I can find one I like in terms of looks this is definitely something to consider. Any breeds to recommend? Specifically anything that tends to stay around mid...

    Need Help with odd situation.

TLDR near bottom. Hi guys, I've been keeping fish for about 6 years, but have no experience with community tanks. I bought myself a half dozen piranha when I first got into fish keeping and made all my mistakes years ago when it comes to water parameters. Luckily my fish didn't suffer too...
