    will this work

When you say drains, are you talking about full siphon? I think about doing Durso's but felt like it would not be as quiet as the Bean or Herbie.

How often can I do a water change

Do you use a fuge with some macro algae .I am think of phosphates here like LR leaching . A good CUC would be very useful too. Instead of doing water changes forever, find out the cause and fix it. JMTC

    Overflow Question

Hello Guys My BA is being made with a dual corner overflow system. I want to put my skimmer on the right side of my cabinet where I think traditionally the return is placed . Into this chamber, I want to run the open channel and full siphon drain. inside the left chamber, I want to have the...

moving water from skimmer to next chamber

If over the wall is the intended direction of skimmer discharge, I would like to know why my skimmer chamber is 17inches tall while my skimmer level is 10 inches. Why add all of that unsightly pipe running over the baffle with a lower baffle... OH .I know. Eshopps and Coralvue must be in kahoots...

moving water from skimmer to next chamber

Actually this was a conversation between myself and another poster in RC. I was maintaining exactly as you have said to the T. I mean it's physics right?. I suppose he has never heard of gravity flow or Total dynamic pressure. His stand was that the discharge pipe needs to be above sump water...

moving water from skimmer to next chamber

I have been in a discussion on how to move the water leaving the skimmer to the next chamber. My sump is 16' and all the baffles are 16' with the exception to the one before the last baffle in front of the return. I have a reef Octopus nwb 150 and the pecks cll for a water level of 8-10" on...

    Prime Question

I didn't know so that is why I posed the question I have read in RC on a Sticky that it should. This guy was talking Everything including LR,LS, CUC, Coral and fish. The CUC seems overboard to me. Have you ever used flakes or a piece of nori to feed the CUC before algae is established?

    New 75 gal

With that little space you really don't have room for the fuge. I would just do a sump,or cut a hole in the side to pass the 20 through if you need to, Other stuff takes up room in the sump too you know. 2 tank sump/fuge is asking for trouble.

    Prime Question

Thanks for responding Hank I understand about how the cycling process works and the need to build up bacteria and that the bacteria needs to be fed to grow and expand. I just want to be able to be able to QT my cuc while the DT is cycling which I anticipate will take from 3 to 4 weeks...

    Starting New Tank today

Please forgive my frankness right now. I really mean well. It is my view that you are trying to set your aquarium up way too fast. You are asking too many basic questions whose answers you should already have learned before you take custody of living things. Know what to feed them, how often...

    Prime Question

Hi Everyone that is reading this. I am going to cycle a tank .with shrimp in a 120 gal. DT using distilled water At the same time that I begin the cycle, ,I want to purchase a cleanup crew and put it into another smaller tank whose water is treated with Prime to observe(QT) and see if there is...

    a little help stocking

After your tank is cycled, the first thing I would go with is the clean up crew. Are you doing Fwlr, corals, or mix? Make the list of the livestock you would like to keep and then check out if they will be compatible with each other . As Todd said Live Aquaria has a good chart for that.Put them...

    Starting New Tank today

There are several test its available ,Salfurt,Red Reef,Api make one. GFO or phosban will do a great job of eliminating it. Micro algae also in your fuge if you have one helps I use well water so this was also a concern for me.

You may want to check the phosphates. If you have it, you will know to get it out to avoid algae explosions. Happy reefing!

    New Tank Situation.Help Please

Yes I have read this very LONG thread a while ago. Due to several recommendations including yours, I have changed design from Herbie to BA. Need to order more bulkheads now to replace the inferior ones that came with the Deep Blue 120 I just received. Shame on them and a waste of Euros for me...

    New Tank Situation.Help Please

I believe that is what I shall do. It is my understanding that with that Herbie system at least, the larger diameter hole is suppose to be used for the emergency pipe and the smaller one as the DT drain line . My options involve 2 drain lines One is a 1 inch drain and the other is a ,75 inch...

    New Tank Situation.Help Please

Hi Guys The 120gal Deep Blue dual overflow tank I ordered came this morning and already I have a question. I will be putting in a Herbie system and was thinking that the emergency drain would be 1.25 inches. The regular drain was to be 1 inch. I am tempted to use the 1.75 asthe main drain but I...
