    Puffer Tank Stocking Suggestions

Hello all, I've been planning on setting up a puffer tank for sometime, and finally got a tank & stand on sale. Its bigger then I was expecting, 30 Gal cube. I would like to hear some stocking suggestions. I have kept DP and Fig8s before, and DP are a must. I would like to hear some stocking...

    Green Mandarin and shrimp

I doubt it since they normally eat much smaller pods. I have had pepermint shrimp go missing before, I personally blamed the emerald crabs.

    cooking rock question

Yep, again this advice is based mostly on the fact that the damage is done. Like the previous post said an ammonia test will give some insight to the amount of die-off. If the levels are high you will want to do some WC to lower then. If the levels are off the chart I would say everything is...

    cooking rock question

I agree that most of the life is dead, but somthing probably survived. I would just continue as usual. The worst case scenario you will just have to regrow it.

    How much is too much?

Make sure it is ro/di, my supermarket only has filtered water.

    Caught a flounder

Flounder get large and are predatory fish. Probably not tank compatible. I support the grilling idea.

    Need Help

Take a water sample to the local fish store and ask then to test it, many do it for free. They will give you advice, but don't forget to report back with the numbers. Clearly there is something amiss.

    Interesting

Well said. There seems to always be a flavor of the month in this hobby. In the end everyone needs to do what is best for then. Most importantly, they need to have a tank that matches their dedication to the hobby.

    Bubbles in my tank

    Sorry I'm at a loss.

    Bubbles in my tank

If you have a sump why do you have a HOB? Why not do the filtration down there. I can't tell those a bubbles, but since that rock is right in front of something, I'm going to still have to blame that.

    Bubbles in my tank

Is the water falling from the HOB into the tank? Raising the water level to the level of the outflow will generally stop the bubbles, or at least keep them on the surface. If the water is falling into the tank then I think you are out of luck.

    Bubbles in my tank

Generally when you hear about the bad bubbles it is becasue they are in your filtration system. They still are not normal for a tank. Just to confirm, is this a SW tank? You are correct that bubbles coming out of the sand are generally by products of bacteria growth but they shouldn't be...

    Reintroduction

Hello all, My name is brian and I am coming back to this community after nearly 4 years...or more? College was a little to hectic for he to keep up with everything and unfortunately forms fell off in importance. I have since graduated and am working full time (so I can pay for fish!). I...

Lost two fish and need to prevent more

Unfortunately its not a great picture...but I do not think that is it. I brought a fish into a pet-store (as well as a few long conversations with other shop owners) and all they could say was it looked bacterial. I specifically asked about velvet and they didn't think so but were not sure...

Lost two fish and need to prevent more

Water params are Ammonia: 0 pH: ~8.3-8.4 nitrite: 0 Nitrate: 0-5ppm (somwhere in between, the scale isn't accurate enough to tell). sg: 1.023 (a bit high) The tank is topped off with 0.5 gallon of DI water from the supermarket every day. (tank size is 30gallons). I just noticed the clownfish...

Lost two fish and need to prevent more

Hey, Yesterday I lost a blue-green chromis (Chromis viridis - The Free Freshwater and Saltwater Aquarium Encyclopedia Anyone Can Edit - The Aquarium Wiki). This was kinda expected as he was being bullied by another one and wasn't getting much food. I did think he was getting enough, but the...

Triming time, time to give awya some stuff.

My Amazon Sword is very prolific... I get a few shoots a quarter and now its time for my bi-annual trip to AA to give some plants away. I have a few baby Amazon Sword to get rid of (10 mabey?). They are 1-2inches in hight and are of the variety that is bushy and only get 12in or so. Trades...

Our Goal to Becoming Fish is Halfway Complete

Rebreathers still use compressed O2. They just circulate a small amout of air, 'scrub out' CO2, and replace the removed material with new O2 from the bottle. They work by maintaining the partial pressure of O2 for the required depth. This article however... the O2 is coming out of the water...
