    My Livebearer Tank

Here is a 75 gallon Livebearer tank with mollies, platies, and guppies. The substrate is 1 inch (2.54 cm) Miracle Gro Organic Garden Soil mixed with peat moss and cow manure. The dirt is capped with 2 inches of pool filter sand. The plants are Swords, Dwarf Sags, rotala, octopus plant, and...

    Come on you Rams!!!

Sometimes I get soccer games over here "across the pond" on one of the cable sport channels. I believe the last game that I saw had Manchester United playing. But best of luck for your Rams!

    Too much Potassium??

Maybe pictures would help, but it sounds like you are putting enough fertilizer in. Are you injecting CO2? What are your “other” plants? As for cloudiness, I have found that leaving the tank alone and letting nature take its course usually works over time. Sometimes we “overfix” things.

Can I put a 75 gallon tank on hardwood floors?

@SugaBit , That stand looks pretty flush on the bottom, so it should be ok. As an added precaution, I would place the tank in a spot where it sits ACROSS the floor JOISTS and not running with the joists. The joists should be 16 inches apart, so you can achieve the most support that way. I...

    First time breeding minnows?

@z3n I just had something weird happen last week. I keep Black Tetras, Serpae Tetras, and Silver Dollars in a 75 gallon tank and because of the Silver Dollars I keep fast-growing floating plants. Well, I noticed some baby fish swimming amongst my anacharis and hornwort and was puzzled how they...

What is your fav kind of fish?

Try some cold water fish. White cloud mountain minnow, bloodfin tetra, rainbow shiner, pearl danio, rosy barb, ricefish, weather loach… these fish are hardy and do not really need a heater.

    Should I change my gravel?

The kid could have just threw some marbles in thinking that they looked “cool”. My kids did the same thing. Otherwise, it looks okay to me.

    O2 vs CO2

Oh yeah...remove that algae! My question: did the Rasboras die due to temperatures or "overgassing" of CO2. As @Aiken Drum mentioned your pH is low (see chart). I inject CO2 according to the KH of the aquarium water. So, if my KH is 6.0 and my pH is 7.0, I am in the "safe" zone. Now, looking at...

Sand Vs Gravel? Yes, this conversation again. Lol

Well, as far as color that is pretty much a personal preference and mine is to use "natural" color gravel and sand. For the sand and gravel dilemma I would try to go somewhere in between: try to find something with a 2-3mm grain. Most of the gravel that I see in Petsmart has a huge grain that...

    Gas Bubble disease in betta?

First off, I cannot positively ID what that is...but I think that it is some type of bacterial infection. I would try BettaFix and see if it helps...

My plants aren’t growing and they keep dying

The plants may have been grown emersed (out of water) before you purchased them. In this case, some melting or leaf dieback should be expected. For a nutrient deficiency you can check out this thread...

    75 Gallon Livebearing Toothcarp tank

Petco had a sale on tanks, do I put this 75 together with mostly all Livebearers. The substrate is dirt capped with pool filter sand. Plants are mostly swords with dwarf sag in the front. https://youtu.be/FdeV9hphE5E

    Angelfish

I have a 75 and keep bigger Tetras with my Angelfish. I would not go with smaller fish like Neons or Cardinals because the Angelfish will eat them if they can fit them in their mouth. Fish like Black Tetras, Serpae Tetras, Lemon Tetras, etc. will work just fine. How many is up to you. Just...

Just thought I'd show my tanks off!

    1. Thats a lot of greenery in tank #1. LOL! Is that Hornwort I'll bet the Goldfish would love to eat some of that. 2. The Goldfish tank looks nice. I would like to add that they will get really big over time. When I had Goldfish I planted a Water Lilly in a 55 gallon. Water Lillies are...
