    Nitrite

    What would cause a random Nitrite bloom? Enough to kill every fish. Over night it jumped from 0 to off the chart; >5ppm. Ammonia is at 0, nitrate <5ppm. Ph 8.0. Specific gravity is at 1.025.     Refractiometer readings

    I recently purchased a new Refractiometer and I'm having trouble understanding the readings. It's giving me a "brix%" and I don't know how to translate that to salinity or specific gravity.
