The gars will eventually be going into my pool/aquarium project along with a Pangasius catfish and 2 fire eels. That project will be turning my 15'x30'x5' in ground pool into a huge in ground aquarium. Keeping my fingers crossed that it won't go crazy over budget.

If you are worried about it melting the plastic tub make it a bed of substrate and lay it on that. Wouldn't need it to be super thick 1 bag of aquarium rock would do the trick.

I like the Id sharks movement in the tank right now since he is small. If it becomes an issue in the future I can move him to my pool turned pond project that I will be doing this summer.

The Tiger Striped Platy is like all other Platy's. The only thing I've noticed different about them is they seem to like planted tanks more then other Platy's. They do give birth to similarly colored fry but can range from solid white to solid orange.
