I think I'm going to buy Penn-Plax® Aquarium Plant Anchors to keep my plants from floating while still planting them lights into my soil, but I'm not sure about how to do the same for grasses or moss. Can you buy a net to grow grasses on that will keep everything anchored to the bottom of the tank?
I ended up taking the leaf off that was dying since half of it came off during the day. I reburied the plant, but kept the rhizome as shallow as possible. When I took the sword out the rhizome looked white and solid. I think that's a good sign.
I also replanted my Dwarf hairgrass, one of the...
Update, I still need help
It looks like my Brazilian sword is in trouble. I put a tab near it a few days ago and it was getting worse so on Saturday I put another one under it directly. I put a picture below, but I'm not sure what else to try and I'm getting frustrated with growing plants. I...
I have been trying to start a planted tank, but I not having much luck in making plants grow. I have a 50 gallon with soil on the bottom with a basic pebble cap, 2 gouramis and 2 otos. I believe my newest plant is a Brazilian Sword, but it looks a bit thicker then the pictures I've seen...
Thanks for your reply. I forgot about those minor details
My long term goal is to have a carpeted floor with java moss and I'm slowly getting wood for some plants also. I am using glut right now, about 10 ml per day with about 10 hours of light per day. I'm not seeing any real results...
I just bought a Finnex Stingray Aquarium LED Light for my 50 gallon tank that is 2 feet deep. It looks great so far, but I'm curious about a couple of things:
1) How much would I improve the lighting if I bought a second one? I know the light is made for low-med plants, but would two make a...
I'm not sure what plants I want to use yet, but I'm going to do a planted tank with soil and I haven't tried a true planted tank before. I would do a CO2 setup, but those can get expensive real fast. I was going to do a DIY CO2 until I read about the Seachem and if that will work then I may go...
I had never looked at Eco-complete before. I like the look of it. It looks like it will work well with soil. I haven't fully decided what type of fish I want yet because I like so many, but they usually aren't compatible. I like Tiger Barbs, Bala Sharks and Cichlids, but they won't work well...
Hello,
I'm looking to do a planted tank with fish with potting soil. I've read a lot of information about it, but I think I'm getting a bit overwhelmed with the data out there about it. Here are the questions I have about it:
1) Can I use about 1.5 inches of Miracle Grow Organic with rocks...
Hello,
Another newbie here. I don't have a tank set up yet, but I'm hoping to get my 50 gal set up in the next couple of months. I want to do a planted tank with soil without CO2 if possible (I think it is).
