I am getting a saw shell hatchling next week, about a 6cm shell length from a breeder. I am aware that plants will be eaten, thats what they are there for. :) I have an aqua one filter that is has a 1200L/hr flow rate? And my tank has about 80L in it, so thats the volume of the tank being...

    More filtration questions..

Hi everyone, Okay, so I was informed last time I asked, that live rock is supposed to be your main filtration in a FOWLR tank, and that flow/circulation aid the filtration. So do I need an extra filter as well, or is live rock and a wave maker enough?? Looking at a 200L capacity after the...

Which fish to introduce first? Compatibility?

With the filter, does it need to be a filter that is rated up to the tank size ie 250L or is a smaller one okay with live rock? The one at my mums is rated to 150L I think.. Or should I just get a new one?

Which fish to introduce first? Compatibility?

Really? I have only seen pictures, I just think they are so adorable! :) Okay, so I am definitely getting a protein skimmer and heater, and lights when I can afford one (before I add fish). Question; do the lights need to run the entire length of the tank ie 4ft tank = 4ft light? And, as far...

Which fish to introduce first? Compatibility?

I think I am just going to stick to fowlr for a start, I really don't understand corals or anemones etc and all their needs yet nor do I think the budget will stretch too much more.. okay, I might sell the air pump and air stone then... uh, I haven't thought too much about lighting yet as...

Which fish to introduce first? Compatibility?

Okay, so I am picking up the second hand 4ft tank that I bought next weekend, and then plan to finish accumulating equipment! So excited! Anyhow, I know that the tank will need to cycle for some time before adding any fish or inverts, however I would like to get 3-5 green chromis, 1 yellow...

Filter or live rock? Or is both okay??

Okay, that's helpful, thanks :) Also, I have read that a filter should filter the entire volume of the tank 3-5 x per hour or more, is this correct? Or not so important in a fowlr tank?

Filter or live rock? Or is both okay??

Okay, go easy on me, but of all those things, I only know what a skimmer is, and I had planned on getting one of them.. Maybe I need to do some more research.. So many new terms.. :s FOWLR = fish only with live rock, right?? Thanks :)

Filter or live rock? Or is both okay??

Okay, that's good, was just a bit confused. What kind of filter is recommended? There are so many choices and to be honest I don't really know the difference between any of them :s I did look at internal filters as well but I thought external would be better/easier?

22L tank with one Ocellaris Clown??

No I don't have the tank yet, but I have been accumulating supplies and equipment for a while. At the moment I was sort of looking for something smaller even though it's more work, simply because I want to get seahorses and I know that they require a species only tank so I didn't want to buy a...

    Hey,

I haven't really looked into corals, maybe I should. :) As for the fire fish, anything that jumps excessively is a big no no as my partner and I also have an indoor Siberian Husky and I don't doubt that she will eat anything that ends up on the floor :s But thanks for the suggestions! :)

Looking to buy a 22L and keep a single ocellaris clown! Hi, I saw your post about your 21L tank, and thought I would ask about it.
