At a loss and despite my heartbreak, I may have to euthanize

Thanks to both of you. I went to check on her again, and (I can't believe I am saying this) thankfully she passed. I knew it was time and knew I had to go somewhere tomorrow to find clove oil. The last thing I would ever want,is,for, anything or anyone to suffer. I do take solace that she...

At a loss and despite my heartbreak, I may have to euthanize

I don't know what to do. I have a dalmation molly that I moved to a QT tank well over a week ago. In the 20 gallon tank, I noticed her shimmying. It has happened before, but not for this long. I monitored, but she just sat at the bottom of the tank, literally pulling herself around as though...

    Mouth fungus

Okay, I will get one first thing in the morning. How much water should I fill it with? These guys are jumpers so I want to make sure to leave enough room in the container so they don't jump out. Should I add aquarium salt? Should I put all 3 tetras in it even though only 2 are symptomatic...

    Mouth fungus

The last infection was about January. It wiped out all but one of my fish which ironically, is the bleeding heart tetra NOT displaying any symptoms out of my three. Out of total paranoia, I bought a new aquarium to make sure the columnaris didn't leave any traces behind. My guess is the...

    Mouth fungus

Unfortunately, only in a 1 gallon at this time. My 5 is housing unexpected fry. I am going to cycle a 20 gallon I got and will transfer the fry , but am waiting for the heater to arrive. Is there a way I can make an impromptu QT, except how would I heat it? I have battled columnarus before...

    Mouth fungus

My readings are 0,0,15,8.1 and 78 Fahrenheit. 20 gallon. 3 bleeding heart tetras 2 platy 1 mollie 3 cories 1 male guppie I recently changed my substrate from river pebbles to black sand to try to minimize damage to my cories barbs. 2 of my 3 bleeding heart tetras have developed white...

    Discus Gill Fungus?

What are your water readings, tank size, other fish, length of cycling, water change routine? Did you make sure to remove the activated carbon during pimafix treatment?

Platy poop - parasite? Ich? Normal?

Yes, I had no plan to have fry, it came as a surprise. I couldn't rehome all of them and am cycling a 20 gallon to move them into. Will probably by an endless issue, but that is the unfortunate story of what was once my QT

Platy poop - parasite? Ich? Normal?

Thank you. My only problem is my QT is currently housing a bunch of platy fry. I could use a 1 gallon, which might be a little mean and it doesn't have a filter or heater. For the time being, I will observe, as you suggest and take further action if necessary. I will discontinue the...

Platy poop - parasite? Ich? Normal?

20 gallon 0, 0, N3 15, ph 8.1, temp currently at 82 farhenheit, but normally 7.9 4 julii cories 2 platies - 1 male, 1 female 3 bleeding heart tetras 1 male guppy 1 dalmation Molly Tank established for over 6 months and no new additions. Recently I noticed my male platy having an abundance of...

    Fuzzy Eye in Pearl Gourami

I invested time and concern to help you. Whether I was able to or not, it is pretty ungrateful not to respond to questions of genuine concern about the health of your fish.

    Newbie with 9 fry

Those look like my platy fry which I separate from the mom -'especially only 9, but that is me. Actually, maybe they are molly fry, I don't know. Either way, this is what I do... I keep them in a 1 gallon with prime that has an air stone and I use a turkey baster to remove the crushed food...

You should not use salt with Cories.

    Fuzzy Eye in Pearl Gourami

Think positively. While I know it is a chore to set up another tank, it would probably help a little. Now that you know the meds only work if you remove the carbon, that may change things a little. If someone else could weigh in, they may be able to advise you how to maintain the QT water to...

    Fuzzy Eye in Pearl Gourami

Sounds good. Also keep in mind plecos produce a lot of waste so make sure to increase water change schedule. Remove the carbon to make sure the meds are not getting re absorbed by the filter and essentially not making it back to the tank. If you can, it wouldn't be a bad idea to separate...

    Fuzzy Eye in Pearl Gourami

The meds won't work if the carbon remains. It nullifies the effect. Even if other fish are a symptomatic, water quality can still be a problem. Definitely up the water changes. What is the exact numerical reading for the water. More than okay isn't helpful when discussing water quality...

HELP...my friend is fish sitting and something is wrong

I know, I feel so sad for those fish. I didn't even notice the other tank until you mentioned it. Pretty bad. Anyway I hope things turn out okay. I have t heard back from my friend yet. I'm with you - I hope those are just tanks used to bring over to my friend's place, but that doesn't help...

    Is my betta ok? :(

Go with your gut. I'm impressed you kept her in that long. I always second guess myself at 5 minutes and end up taking my fish out. I then do another short one a little later - but that is probably stressful and not helpful. Interesting link. I didn't know there was a difference between a...

    Fuzzy Eye in Pearl Gourami

Popeye is often a symptom of poor water conditions. What are your readings and have you done a change since noticing it? Did you remove the activated carbon from the filter prior to treating with Pima and mela pix? What size tank? Tank mates? Do you have a QT? Even if it wasn't an injury...
