    90 filtration needs

Keep the Eheim and Emperor, lose the Tetra and there's no need for a skimmer. Now, the surface skimmer is up to you. Sometimes an oily residue appears on the water's surface and so that skimmer may prove useful. Sent from my iPhone using Aquarium Advice

Planning my 55 Gallon. Suggestions/advice appreciated!

What you have here is a great plan for a semi-aggressive community. The only problem I see is Silver Dollars. They prefer to be in a larger group and a 75g is more suited to at least 6. Not sure about the Synodontis but what about Pictus Catfish. Have you considered a Rainbow or red- tailed...

    fishy dilemas

You have a real dilemma as all of these fish will do well in a planted tank. The danios may be a little too active for company so I'd cross them off the list. I love Cherry Barbs and they will be fine with any of the tetras mentioned. Sent from my iPhone using Aquarium Advice

Best filter for 29 g betta tank

Many choices. What you should look for is gph; 150gph min to 300gph max. Depending on your stocking level, which most people tend to stock heavily, shoot for the high end. Sent from my iPhone using Aquarium Advice

    Flowerhorn sexing

Hard to tell. Since this is a hybrid, traditional sexing methods don't apply like nuchal hump development, coloration, and fin extensions. (Info discovered on this forum) Sent from my iPhone using Aquarium Advice

    Bolivian Ram tank mates

Thank you for pointing that out. In that case I must agree with your statement. Actually both statements are true. Sent from my iPhone using Aquarium Advice

    Any ideas??

A bigger tank is easier to maintain; temp and parameters are more stable. Sent from my iPhone using Aquarium Advice

    Bolivian Ram tank mates

The statement was made there wasn't much you could put with a ram; I disagreed with that statement. In a tank that size there are many things you could put with a ram, including another ram. Sent from my iPhone using Aquarium Advice

    Bolivian Ram tank mates

I have to disagree, I've got BR's with a platy and barbs in a 26g and no issues. With 1 ram in a 40g, the options are many. I'd do a biotope with catfish and a schooling fish native to the area. Sent from my iPhone using Aquarium Advice

    Mixing my Pleco

Clown plecos stay small and more than 1 can be kept together also. Commons do get huge and are notorious for sucking the slime coat off of other fish, even eating small fish. Sent from my iPhone using Aquarium Advice

    Convict breeding behavior?

Women! Sounds like she was impressed by male #1's size but male #2 won her over in the end. They could have double teamed male #1, poor guy.? Sent from my iPhone using Aquarium Advice

    What filter to buy??

Some will say Eheim 2234, I love my Fluval. I have an older model but the new 406 is supposed to be great filter. Sent from my iPhone using Aquarium Advice

    Would you recommend tetras?

Any tetra you choose would show well with your substrate. I prefer Colombians or Pristellas. Sent from my iPhone using Aquarium Advice

    Agresion please help

Your Betta should be moved ASAP. Introducing tank mates in an established aquarium with cichlids especially, can be tricky. I agree that the loaches are better kept in a group and they will outgrow your tank. Ghost catfish should also be kept in a group of their own kind. Sent from my iPhone...

What is the best fish food?

I use Omega One Freshwater Flakes, Freeze Dried Brine Shrimp, and Shrimp Pellets. I've used the bloodworms before but I wanted to switch things up a little in the dry food. I also feed frozen from time to time. Sent from my iPhone using Aquarium Advice

    EBJD and green terror

You take your chances when it comes to cichlids. Those two are good choices though, as neither are too aggressive. You may want to include some kind of dither fish like Silver Dollars. A Red-tailed black shark would be an interesting addition. Sent from my iPhone using Aquarium Advice

Looking for a tetra that occupies mid/high level

    Hiding peacocks

If the plan is to grow them out until they're big enough to join the main aquarium and the setup and water parameters are similar, just go about your weekly maintenance and they'll settle in. Cichlid personalities are so interesting. Sent from my iPhone using Aquarium Advice

Banana plants roots turning into fluff

I haven't read anything to the contrary, although I've seen it mentioned as a big or pond plant. Substrate doesn't seem like a big deal, just strong lighting and ferts. I'd suggest buying another plant if you're sure you have sufficient lighting and are dosing ferts. (Not CO2) Sent from my...
