    Sluggish Platy

Hi everyone, My tank is a 20 gallon high, and it's contained fish for about 6 weeks, not counting the time period of the nitrogen cycle. There are 3 platys, a betta, and 3 small plants. Lately, my male platy has been slowing down. He doesn't respond to much, and hardly ever moves. He even...

    Yellow Anubias???

    Yellow Anubias???

I have the roots buried in my gravell, but the rhizome is exposed per instructions from a thread I made asking for anubias care. The stems themselves are a darker green. I only have 3 platys in the tank, been running about 3 weeks not counting the cycling. I'm completely new to plants in...

    Yellow Anubias???

How could I tell? Were there any signs that would've identified it?

    Yellow Anubias???

Could it not be getting enough nutrients? It's my very first live plant in a tank that has had fish in it for about 3 weeks.

    Yellow Anubias???

Hi all! A couple of weeks ago I picked up an Anubias plant from my LFS. It's been shaded by amazon swords, and now it's starting to yellow in a few leaves, and all of them are lighter. Is there something I'm doing wrong. Sent from my iPod touch using Aquarium Advice

Advice for putting in wild rocks?

Hey all! I came across a lot of interesting rocks I think would go great in my aquarium and I'd like to know the procedure to add them to my tank. Obviously I can't plop them in after spraying them down with water. Should I use a specific soap?

    Anubias Care

So it is best to not leave it in the light too much? Doesn't sound like a problem, I'll shade it with some amazon swords. Thanks everyone for your quick help!

    Anubias Care

Tomorrow I was planning to go grab some new plants for my 20 gallon aquarium, and I like the look of anubiases? anubi? Anyway, I was wondering about how to take care of them. I read a lot of conflicting stuff online, so I'd like some clarification as to how I take care of them. Are they...

    Gravid Spot?

Hey all, I've been observing one of my female platys and lately I've noticed she has a dark spot visible, but only on one side of her. It's literally just a spot, not really the dark splotch that the pictures of gravid spots on google are... I was wondering if this is in fact her gravid spot...

    Far too low pH

Okay, phew! I can breathe a little easier now. What exactly constitutes a "rare" fish?

    Far too low pH

So I was testing the water of my new tank, which has held 3 platys for 4 days so far, already been cycled, when my pH is alarmingly low (this is my first time testing pH). I had previously purchased only an ammonia and nitrite kit so I didn't know anything about the pH. I am led to believe the...

I plan on following through with the list guppy provided in terms of plants. I was reading up on platys recently and most of the articles I read gave me different numbers than you did. 2:1 was a common ratio. I'll provide links as well, but I'm glad you warned me! I'll read up some more before...

    In the beginning...

You bet it's cycled! And let me tell you, waiting around for 6 weeks with an empty fish tank was TORTURE. So many people wondered why it was empty and assumed I had killed the fish. I'm wondering about plants. I don't want to go overboard with them and have a jungle, but I'd like to add a little...
