    2 Holding Females...help

I've got an electric yellow female & a red top zebra female confirmed holding fry. Should I separate them and place them in breeders now? Or should I wait until I see fry eyeballs peeking out of the mouths? Sent from my GS4

Help. Young maingano with hole in head?

It's called hole in the head disease. The others here can advise on treatment or you can call a reputable fish store for immediate advice. Sooner is better...evidenced by how quickly the problem appeared. :/ Sent from my GS4

    Auratis

Larger females should be fine, as long as they aren't giant in comparison. :) It would at least take some pressure off the holding female. ;) Sent from my GS4

    Marbled Bichir anyone?

I adopted a 3.5" polypterus palmas/marbled bichir and I love him to death! Anyone else in cichlid-land with these wonderful dinosaurs? Fascinating creatures...part amphibian & part fish. I find him wicked and sweet all at the same time. ;) Sent from my GS4

You're awesome. Thanks so much for the kind words & giggles this morning! I needed that today. :D Are your tanks pictured somewhere on the site so I can see them? Also, I'd like to comment that you sound just like me..."cichlids RUNNING around the tank". I too, talk like they have legs...

    Sea salt and cichlids

Why thank you Mogurako! :) That's what I'm talking about....give me information I'm not aware of - so I too can become more educated. No more table salt use for me... Thanks again & my Mbuna thank you too...you know your stuff. :) Sent from my SCH-R970 using Aquarium Advice mobile app

    Sea salt and cichlids

Did I cause confusion? I'm sorry, I didn't mean to. :) I would just like to clarify that I'm aware that Epsom salt is plain old magnesium sulfate and I don't use it to buffer the water, I use it strictly as bloat prevention. Also, please understand that I use Morton brand iodized table...

They find blanched spinach pretty tastey too. My Mbuna go crazy when I give it to them. They're like piranhas when I break out the seaweed! Sent from my SCH-R970 using Aquarium Advice mobile app

Can a tank be to big for fish?

Sillyfishies is soooo right. A place to guard and call home (& maybe a mate or not) is all a cichlid wants. :) Sent from my SCH-R970 using Aquarium Advice mobile app

Stocking 60 gallon with African Cichlids

Justincase must have had some bum Africans in the past...lol. I also have SA's and they are very different from my Mbuna in behavior patterns, but I love them all the same. :) Sent from my SCH-R970 using Aquarium Advice mobile app

    post your cichlid setup here!

FYI though...catfish poop a lot! For as much scavanging they do, they seem to create more mess than actually clean it. I keep striata botia loaches with my Africans because they are not only better scavangers, but their aggressiveness works well with them. Also, not so much poo... Sent from...

Hikari brand sinking gold pellets or floating pellets. Make sure you feed spirulina as well because it's part of the cichlids' diet in nature, from my understanding. Plus it enhances their colors nicely. :) Sent from my SCH-R970 using Aquarium Advice mobile app

    Sea salt and cichlids

I use aquarium salt (plain Epsom salt) if any of my fish have bloated bellies to help them poop before it turns into Malawi Bloat/general bloat...whatever name you know it by. I use table salt occasionally because some Africans need iodine. Hope that helps. Sent from my SCH-R970 using...

Can a tank be to big for fish?

I agree with Fishdude3233. Probably feeling out the tank. They don't want to just be in the open, not knowing if something is laying in wait to eat them. They also may be stressed from changing tanks or not feeling perfectly well. Time will tell.... Sent from my SCH-R970 using Aquarium...
