Can an aggressive fish be "conditioned"?

I've had a Peacock (gorgeous-strongly resembles a Lwanda Red Top) for about a year. Up until now he's be fairly peaceful. All of the sudden he started chasing everything in the tank. I caught him in one of my larger nets and wound up overlapping the net (so he couldn't escape) while I tried to...

How to treat bogwood or driftwood

I am a bit surprised and taken back by the lack of responses or expressed interest regarding this thread. I thought a solution to the problems that exist when introducing natural wood into an aquarium would excite just about everyone here. If a coating could provide a nontoxic seal and where the...

Need to replace tank/choose tank and move inhabitants. HELP

I think others that are more into lighting requirements for plants could better answer the height question. It seems a little tall in proportion to the W/D from an aesthetic point of view. I also don't think your children could do anything to your tank (glass or acrylic) other than splash water...

Need to replace tank/choose tank and move inhabitants. HELP

I agree with drawing the water down making it easier to catch fish. If you take it down to 1/4 tank, you should be able to net your fish and the shrimp with a reasonably sized net. Try to save as much of the original water as possible. This will make the change easier on the fish. They're...

How to treat bogwood or driftwood

I love my tank. I went to it from a 55gal. I was amazed to find that large tanks almost take care of themselves. Things change at a much slower pace due to the volume of water. The only reason I didn't go larger (besides $$$ - another 100G was almost double in price) is because of the weight...

How to treat bogwood or driftwood

Tank is 72X30X24 (225G). Everything but the glass is home made. I'll post a pic as soon as I figure out how to attach them. I tried to attach a pic of the driftwood but it just came out as "/img".

How to treat bogwood or driftwood

I have my prized piece of driftwood that is almost 10 years old. It was in my aquarium until last January when I had to move my tank. Over time it has decayed. I set it in the garage and it has been dry for several months. I was curious what preservative or coating I could use to preserve it...
