for a 150g I would suggest the fluval fx6 canister ,not cheap but very quiet!.i run one on my 90g and its fantastic. super clear water n can stock many fish with low maintenance! cheers n good luck!

hmm sounds like a good idea but i fear the air running into the water may contain oils n who knows what else! may harm your fish, I run a hiblow HB-20 air pump there used in medical lads n such very clean but no cheep!,right now its used on my 120g , 90g and 5 10g tanks, also all are adjustable...

in my 90g I bought some plants witch had 3-7 snails,as time past the population of snails grew so much they got into my filters n all over the class like crazy in till I bought a 6'' jack Dempsey, after 3 months or so snail population near nil! ,but they served well as cleaners well they lasted...
