    Angel pair?

Thanks. I'm sorry for so many questions and repetitive questions. I just want to learn as much as I can.

    Angel pair?

Thanks Andy. The tank substrate is sand, not gravel. That's what they had, and I just added some black from my aquarium to it when I got it. All the levels are staying the same. I only got 1 25% change done because I ran out of clarifier and safe start, and I didn't want to put in plain tap...

    Angel pair?

The people I bought the tank from had it up and running for well over a year before I bought it from them. They included the water and everything. All I added was some of the sand from my one other tank (it's been cycled and running with no problems for about a year) and I added some plants and...

    Angel pair?

I found several groups on facebook who breed angels. The one guy can pretty much guarantee that the orange is male. As far as being a fertile pair, I still have to wait and see I guess. The females breeding tube is about twice the length it was when I got them, but the orange still shows no...

    Angel pair?

I want to hatch out a spawn, but I don't have a tank set up right now for it. I have a nice 10 gallon I want to use for spawns/fry, but have to get a heater still. I guess I'll be able to tell if they're actually male/female and fertile if the eggs they lay turn the amber color they're supposed...

    Angel pair?

I noticed today that the black (female) was very large and bloated looking so I skipped the morning feeding. The orange one is fine. I noticed about an hour later the female was pooping, so I know she's not constipated or bloated/overfed. I fed them just a little bit and gave some FD bloodworms...

Very odd readings with API Master Kit

The readings this morning are the same. I'm going to do a 25% change today to see what that does.

    Angel pair?

They definitely are funny. The 6 juveniles I have in 2 separate tanks all have unique personalities. It's really neat. I haven't seen to much from the adults, as we're both still learning each other's routines. They've been spending a lot of time together, and have been cleaning the shale rock...

Very odd readings with API Master Kit

The strips test more compounds. They're Tetra's brand. They test 6 things, nitrIte, nitrAte, chlorine, pH, alkalinity, and I can't remember the 6th thing. They sell ammonia test strips separately, so I got those too. After doing my water change the ammonia was still at 1-3ppm, so I'm going to...

    Angel pair?

The breeder I talked to in person said that sometimes you can tell the sex by the way the anal fin is. If it's perpendicular to the underbelly line, they tend to be female. If it forms more of a straight line, it tends to be male. The only problem with this, is the known female has a pretty...

Very odd readings with API Master Kit

No. They're a pair of breeding angels. I've talked to a local breeder who has been breeding for 40+ years and he said since the tank is a 15 gallon column that it is actually good for a breeding tank. As long as I do weekly water changes and everything they will be okay. He's used 10 gallons and...

Very odd readings with API Master Kit

I followed the directions perfectly. I tested it three times and got different readings for ammonia each time. The first was 8ppm, second was even darker than 8ppm, and the third was like 3ppm. So it's not even a consistent reading... I'm taking the kit, and water samples to Petco to have them...

    Angel pair?

I really don't care what "name" of the color is. I just saw several people talking about the different "types" of colors and thought it'd be interesting to ask. So do you believe the orange is a male, Andy? Anyway, I posted this also in the Unhealthy Fish part of the forum, I tested my water...

Very odd readings with API Master Kit

So my API Master Test kit came in the mail today. I was super excited and have been waiting for it. I rinsed the tubes out really well with super hot water (no soap because I didn't want it to leave any residue). After letting them air dry for about an hour, I filled them with water from my 15...

    Molly fry colors

It may just take some time for them to grow before they show colors. I used to breed mollies and fancy guppies and they were always a few weeks old before they showed any color. Until then, you could never tell what fry were guppies, and which were mollies because they all were tanish/brown/black.

    Betta Breeding Help Me Please?

Just be prepared to possibly lose your female. I tried breeding a few years back, and the male was really rough with her. She survived the spawning, but died a few days later from the injuries.

It's almost impossible to tell by this picture.

    Angel pair?

So here are the pictures of the pair I got. I showed pictures to the LFS angel breeder and he said he believes the orange is a male. We know the black is a female, as she's laid eggs before. Her breeding tube is still exposed (I guess she last laid eggs like 5 days ago) but the male isn't...

    Sponge Filter?

Okay. Thanks everyone :) I have a pair of angels (ones a known female, and the other the breeder is almost positive is a male) and I want to set up a fry tank. I also have a trio (yes I know its almost impossible) of gouramis (two gold and a pearl) who have tried to spawn in the main community...

    Sponge Filter?

Well I have several fully cycled main tanks to start it in. So do I need a power head? Or just an air pump?

    Sponge Filter?

Awesome. Thank you! I know they have to be set up in a main tank first to get the beneficial bacteria before being placed in a fry tank

    Angel pair?

So I found a person on facebook and they were getting rid of their 15 gal column tank. It has the filter, heater, and thermometer, and even the water. They were also getting rid of their two adult angels (one a known female as she has laid eggs, and the other is a male as far as they know; they...

    Sponge Filter?

So I'm not quite sure where this post should go, so I figured the Getting Started topic would probably be okay. This is probably a really stupid question, but I see all these posts saying about setting up a sponge filter in fry/spawning tanks. How do I do this? Can someone explain it in simple...

    Angel tank mates

I have my angels with a single female gourami, 4 platys, a single cory cat and a (retarded) rainbow fish (he is only abour 2" at several years old, cant swim the best, and I don't think he sees the best; something happened to him when he was still a baby) In the past I've had several gouramis...

    Angel pair?

Yeah, I definitely don't want to over feed them (even though they eat everything/anything they're given)
