Finnex Planted+ 24/7 CRV or FugeRay?

I recently purchased a Finnex Planted+ 24/7 (CRV version) and I am honestly a little underwhelmed by it. It is less bright than my original Planted+ (non 24/7 version aka version 1) and though the custom colors are interesting it is a niche i'm not likely to use often. I want to return it but...

    Gnats/bugs in dry start method?

I'm doing the DSM in one of my tanks and noticed a bunch of small flies flying around in there and some holes in the leaves of my plants. How do I treat this without flooding the tank? I'd like to leave that as a last resort as to allow the other plants to grow a little more first

Dry Start Method/ Emersed method question

Yes, I am covering it with cling wrap and have a 1in x 1in hole open in the back. I've added ludwigia and rotala to grow emersed in there too

Dry Start Method/ Emersed method question

I am starting the DSM in my 29 gallon tank, and had a few questions; The first is relating to the humidity level, I am misting the substrate and tank a lot but the substrate (flourite black sand) does not seem to stay moist, it keeps getting dried out. Should I dump like a gallon or two of...

Can anyone recommend me a good powered gravel vac?

I'm looking on Amazon for a powered gravel vacuum, most are inexpensive but look cheaply made. I'd prefer not to spend a lot of money on one but also get one that does its job well and will last

Where are you buying the Manzanita from? I was considering it for my own 29g also

    Redmoor Wood vs Spiderwood

I actually did not see any of the redmoor or spiderwoof on there but I'll keep looking, thank you for the advice

    Redmoor Wood vs Spiderwood

I'm trying to decide on a centerpiece for my 29g that I'll be rescaping. I plan on emptying it and doing the DSM to carpet and grow plants and wanted some opinions on what would be more aesthetically pleasing. The substrate will be Flourite black sand and and I will be planting fairly heavily...

    Emersed tank?

Also, do you think Fluorite black sand is an acceptable substrate for this method or will it be too thick/compact for root growth?

    Emersed tank?

I was actually looking into the the plastic tub idea! My only issue with that is I live near a police station and don't want to look like I'm doing anything illegal ? but I did have that as a legitimate plan for a while

    Emersed tank?

I see, I don't babe a co2 system right now but when I "restart" the tank I may invest in one. If not that then dose excel for a while. I'll keep all this in mind, thank you again!

    Emersed tank?

Thank you for the advice! Are there any plants that will carpet while emersed or is that better left to co2 injections? Also is there a set time I should grow them emersed or just until they've grown enough?

    Emersed tank?

Hello all, I am currently rescaping my 29g with fluorite black sand and wondering what plants are best to grow emersed. I would just have the sand and a small amount of water in there to grow plants emersed until I move my fish back in. Is there any suggestions for this technique? Thank you in...

    Angelfish nipping at tetras

It kind of leaves me at an impasse because I would hate to get rid of him (either sell him to a LFS or give him to another aquarium owner) or keep him and take a gamble with the remaining fish. If I could upgrade the size of my tank I would but that's impossible at this point in time. There are...

    Angelfish nipping at tetras

I have a single angelfish in a 29g with about 8 pristella tetras and a juvenile BN pleco. I added the angel when it was considerably small and it has grown significantly over the past months. Is this problem due to space or is it agression due to feeding (this happens a lot when feeding but also...

American Glass Shrimp or Red Claw Macro?

Hello everyone I need help identifying a few shrimp, after I took them out of my 10g because I suspected them of injuring my pygmy corydora. There are about 10 shrimp in total and I separated the biggest ones into a different tank. Those are a few of the shrimp, there are still smaller ones...

    Diatoms (?) all over!!

Looking back on I remember that my 10g also has this problem a while back. I had redone it in April (completely restarted the tank) and for a few months I had diatoms everywhere. After a while they started to dissapear and all of my plants that were covered in them no longer have that problem. I...

    Diatoms (?) all over!!

If its not from your tap water maybe look into the food/amount of food you give your fish, as some contain phosphates. I don't think the phosphate remover would affect plants but I'd look on seachem's website. I only suggested that because diatoms are usually caused by excess phosphates/silica

    Diatoms (?) all over!!

I agree with Anna, you may also benefit from leaving the plants in a bucket of water with dechlorinator for a bit. You could also pick up a pack of phosphate remover made my seachem, I believe it is the same as Purigen - a mesh pack you can leave in your filter.

    Ghost shrimp injuring fish?

Yesterday I noticed one of my pygmy corydoras in my 10g has an open gash on his side. When I first added the corys to the tank I saw some ghost shrimp annoy them but not really go after them. The only other inhabitant is a male Endler. I have since removed the largest ghost shrimp and put them...

How to safely clean silicone lining in aquarium?

Good evening everyone, I have a little bit of algae in my tank and usually use a magnetic bristle to clean the glass, however I've noticed that if I brush too close to the silicone seal, that it'll rip off small pieces of silicone. What is an effective method for cleaning on and around the...

Fish aesthetics help for my 29?

So in my 29g I have 12 pristella tetras, a juvenile BN pleco and a JV Angelfish. My problem is that even though I'm pretty much fully stocked, it looks like I have no fish in there. The tetras don't really school and stay near the lower region of the tank; the angelfish is kinda all over but...

Help! What the heck are these?!

I haven't seen them back yet, but yeah copepods seems like a logical explanation. I had a buildup of brown/red algae so I thought they came from that, but I don't think that's the case Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using Tapatalk

Help! What the heck are these?!

They kind of crawl along the glass and will occasionally dart from spot to spot. They look like mites. I did a WC and didn't see anymore but I'm keeping my eye out Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using Tapatalk

Help! What the heck are these?!

I came home to all of these little things crawling on the glass in my tank, and I have no idea what they are or they're a pest. These only thing I can think of is that I have ghost shrimp in my tank, and they might have had babies. I'm not completely sure though because they don't look like...
