The worst was/is yet to come

Unfortunately, I have no advice, just thought I'd chime in my experience. A number of years ago, I disrupted a pocket of hydrogen sulfide in my reef and didn't realize the damage I'd done until waking up the next morning to find all fish and most inverts dead. A few of the corals looked a bit...

    it's gettin' hot!!

Yeah, as long as the temp isn't fluctuating too much, I don't think 82 is a concern. But as someone who once had to buy a second window unit just to keep my tank below 90 (that's right, got all the way up to 92 one day with out doing any visible damage), I would suggest fans, fans, and more...

    Goniopora or Zoanthid?

Oops. By close up, I didn't mean zoom in more, just asking for a photo of the polyps closed up as a closed up goni looks different from closed up zooanthids. Make it retract.

    Netting Fundraiser

No, anybody can read. Thanks for moving this to a sticky. So far we've already raised over $1200!!! Fantastic response. Those of you in aquarium societies, please pass along to your fellow members. This is an excellent opportunity for hobbyists to have a REAL impact on diminishing cyanide...

    Unhappy Xenia

Hope it's not too late... I agree with Reefrunner. I wouldn't take it out of the tank. A little bit of dying xenia won't affect anything and it's AMAZING what can grow back out of a tiny little smudge of tissue. And 45 min. is certainly NOT an issue. Changing parameters can be, however...

    Goniopora or Zoanthid?

Wow. That's a tough one. For starters, the link you posted is definitely a goniopora. But something about this just doesn't look like a goni to me. And the fact that it's ON a rock make me much more inclined to go with zooanthid. But...I wouldn't rule out Turbinaria peltata either as it can...

    White Gorgonian

Sorry, I should have given a more detailed description. I don't think it's a Pseudoplexaura, Plexaurella, or Plexaura sp. for a couple of reasons. (1) I believe all gorg. in these two genuses have more retractile polyps. That's the oddest thing about this one. The polyps do retract...but...

Unknown leather - has simularites to kenya tree

I'd say almost definitely capnella...especially with the hint of green. And the kind of wrinkled looking stalk looks very much like a capnella that just needs a little time in a good spot to really beef up. Is it kind of firm like a capnella?

    White Gorgonian

Curious if anyone has ever seen this white gorgonian before. When it first came in, I thought it was somehow bleached or something, but I've had it for about 6 months now, and just fragged it into 5 this size which are all doing really well. I've never seen anything like it before or since.
