    Jumpers

I have only three species in my 40 gallon breeder. Neon Tetras, guppies and Cories. Are any of those know to be jumpers, as in jumping out of the tank?:fish2:

    Missing Zebra Danio

Probably I should post this in the Betta section, which there probably exists here somewhere. Nice chatting with you. :)

    Missing Zebra Danio

Sadly it didn't die of natural causes. I found him this morning, well hidden by the cable from the extension cord. It's one with 8 plug ins. Poor little guy.:(

    Missing Zebra Danio

I found my Zebra Danio this morning, and quite dead it is. He did jump out, and he was under the extension cord cable which hid him completely. I have lowered the water level to hopefully keep the rest from jumping out. I wonder how high they can jump. Thanks for your interest. On...

    Missing Zebra Danio

I hope you're right, of course at this point its does not matter. He was the last survivor of several ZDs we had. We also have a 16 year old dog. Pets just don't live long enough.

    Missing Zebra Danio

I never have seen him jump, but I may lower the water level so it will be more difficult for anyone else to jump out. It does not look as good though, does it, if the water line is 3 in below the top frame on the tank. :ermm:

    Missing Zebra Danio

I hope that's what happened. I checked the ammonia level just in case, and it was 0, so it's unlikely that he is rotting somewhere. About the stocking level, I know this tank could hold a lot more. I also know about neons and Cories liking to shoal. I have no plans to add any more as one water...

    Missing Zebra Danio

I have used under gravel filters when I was stationed in England, but I doubt that these were as efficient as the ones we use these days.

    Missing Zebra Danio

No Golfish, just the fish I mentioned, and they are all smaller than he was. He is not in or under the decorations and I do not have an under gravel filter. I know he is gone , just because I can't find him, LOL. Not so many fish that it's hard to notice. Currently there are 7 and it's a pretty...

    Missing Zebra Danio

He was normal sized adult Zebra Danio, maybe 2 inches. I looked all around the tank to see if he jumped out, but found nothing.

    Missing Zebra Danio

I have a 40 gallon tank with 2 guppies ,2 Cories, 3 neons and the missing Zebra. Could they have eaten him so fast? He was only missing for one or two days. :ermm:

    Water changes in understocked tanks.

Yes, that is the one. I can't thank you enough. It is very useful, especially when adding fish.

    Water changes in understocked tanks.

I do use the API testing "kit". Ammonia and Nitrate are 0 and nitrate is at 2. According to the charts even higher is good. Sometimes I wonder if the water changes in a tank that is not fully stocked is a good idea. When I do the changes, I usually clean the gravel too.:fish2: We had a Betta die...

Thank you, I will check it out.

    Water changes in understocked tanks.

I have two active tanks. One ten gallon tank has one Betta Splendens. The other one is a 40 gallon breeder and has 8 small fish. 3 neons, 2 corries,1 zebra and 2 male guppies. My water changes are as following. The 10 gal gets a 20% change once every 4 weeks, and the 40 gal tank about 8% every...

About my Betta and about Cherry Shrimp

I have read that Betta's lifespan is 5 years, but he does look old and his color has changed quite a bit. Who knows his age when we bought him at Walmart.

About my Betta and about Cherry Shrimp

I don't squash the snails. I'm too softhearted for that, so I am glad that the Cherries are peaceful. Thank you.

About my Betta and about Cherry Shrimp

We have had Pink for about three years. I do know that the glass shrimp will kill and eat snails. I have seen it. They rip them right out of their shells, pretty gruesome to see that is for sure. (I think they are called glass shrimp, but they are the common ones seen in aquariums.

About my Betta and about Cherry Shrimp

I think my Betta is dying. He will eat nothing, going on his 4th day. All he does is hide in his decoration tree stump. I have to search for him to be sure he is alive. How long will it take this fast to kill him? I have done multiple water changes to no avail, and one fish in a 10 gal tank...

    A question about my Betta

Thank you, but he is not new to us. He has been with us for some time. We did change tanks though, maybe a couple of months ago. Before that he lived in a 4 Gal tank. Perhaps as long as he has a good appetite, I should not worry.(does no good anyway)

    A question about my Betta

He is in a 10 gallon tank and has started to hang around one corner at the surface.. He eats fine, and is able to swim in the rest of the tank, but he seems to act in a different way. I do water changes fairly often and the ammonia tests at 0. I have a filter and a heater. There are some live...
