Who actually runs a system with 0 nitrate? Even in my sps tanks I'd have measurable nitrates at 2-3 ppm and a lot of people say they have 0 when they're asking for help. Got me curious who actually has 0 ppm?

Mine is normal 3-5ppm.
I think most of the peoples test kits are in ranges much bigger, so they assume 0.
0-5, they say 0 because it sounds better.

Mines 1-3 depending on test kit. Honestly you don't want 0 ppm nitrate as then there is nothing available for the corals. Even in sps tanks if try to keep it above 0 but less than 5.

My 60g reef shows zero lately, but other than corals, it just has a Chalk Bass and Ruby Red Dragonette. I use the APC kit, which I understand is not the best, but I go more on what the corals are telling me. If everything looks happy, I don't stress over numbers.
