2.5 gal filter

What is the best filter for a 2.5 gallon. I would prefer a hob style. Currently have an air driven one and it's terrible.

Mmhm. I suggest buying different media for it than what it comes with. The little filter pads it comes with aren't very good. I bought Aquaclear foam, I think for the AC 20, and just cut it to size. I also bought Aquaclear BioMax 30 for some biological filtration. The whole little bag of it fits inside the Azoo filter.
