For our anniversary, my better half wants a 37 gal tank in our kitchen in-house window.

Not a problem.....she want another fish tank....for our anniversary!

Am I in heaven?! (y)

Anyway...I have an extra skilter 250.....I plan on upgrading the skimmer with a limewood airstone, which greatly improves its skimming capability.

I want to put about 100lbs of LR in the tank(if I can fit it) and a DSB of 3 inches. And I also want a couple PH's.

Will this supply adequate filtration and de-nitrifiying bacteria for the 37 gal?

OR.....

Should I get a Red Sea Prizm and just use PH's and lots of LR with a strick PWC schedule to keep my levels low with no HOB filter?

I plan on doing 15% PWC's once a week either way.

No personal experience with the skilter but I hear it is not the best skimmer. I would go with the better skimmer nd LR option. Either way, the skilter will be a good place for mechanical and chemical filtration should you choose to go that route.
BTW...happy anniversay!
