4/4/4 lighting duration pros and cons please?

I'm trying to do 4/4/4 lighting duration. 90gal, reef capable led, single t5 6500k, dosing liquid ferts and carbon. Please advise the pros and cons. Thanks

Great! Until today is was doing 3-9 with moderate growth w/o any algae. I want to increase my photo and viewing period w/o an algae outbreak. That is why I'm trying this knowing my liquid carbon lasts for 24hrs.

I have 6 different timers, just any old timer will work

I'm not promoting what to buy or anything, but that is the timer I got on sale at Petsmart(the single digital one). I have other manual timers as well, but the digital programming makes it nice and easy(plus I believe it keeps the time/program if you lose power).

If my photoperiod is at 12 hours, will changing it this much affect it?
