I need plants that don't require high light fixtures. Say java moss? How long does that stay alive? And some background plants?

Go to plantgeek.com and look for low light plants. They have the best library of plants and make sure to check out the list of non-aquatic plants so you don't get something that won't survive.

Java moss will stay alive indefinitely with just a little bit of light. Look into java ferns, anubias, crypts, and vals. Vals grow tall and will make good background plants.
