75 gal FOWLR, need sump or no?

I am re-doing my room and want to build a 55 or 75 gallon FOWLR tank. I have limited space so i want to know if i can build the tank on top of a dresser? or if i need to have an aquarium stand with a sump underneath?

I'd go with a stand dont trust a dresser to support the weight. (55 gal = apx 500 lbs) you wont need a sump But they are nice to have as they give you more water volume and a place to hide your heater/skimmer and such Also i'd go with the 75 just about the same foot print as a 55 but easier to aqua-scape
