As any had any luck with placing broken pieces on a frag rack ? I just had 2 Birdsnest break .

I glued my broken piece of birdsnest onto a rock and it started growing so I don't see why not.

So long as your water parameters and light are good, you should have no issues with the frags growing out and the parent coral will heal itself and begin to regrow.
