Hi all. I've had an algae issue for some time now. No, its not slime algae. or even in the water. in about a week or so, eventually water evaporates and condenses on the screen that protects the light bulb. because of the close proximity to the light, algae grows pretty quickly, and keeps my plants from getting any light. i clean it off whenever i do a PWC, but it keeps growing back.

Do you have an air stone in your aquarium? If so remove it and see if you still have a problem. I stopped having that problem with algae underneath my lights after I removed the two 24" long airstones out of my tank.

I've noticed that I get less algae on my glass top since I reduced the amount of micro ferts I add. It stopped the weekly green water outbreak too.

its funny ive removed half the plants in this tank and i dont use that many ferts in the tank either. i dont even have an aorstone!!!
