Hello

I am trying to cycle my 110 gallon tank to put some African Cichlids in it. I have powdered ammonia which I got from a fish-less cycle kit from Aquaponic Source. I put enough into the tank to reach 4 ppm. However, the kit said to add ammonia as it drops but mine isn't dropping. It has been at 4ppm for 6+ days. I added 8 ounces of Dr. Tim's One and Only on the first day so I thought the ammonia should have dropped by now.

My readings right now are:

Temp: 84
pH: 8.2
Ammonia: 4 ppm
Nitrite: 2 ppm
Nitrate: 10 ppm
GH 2
KH 16

Do I just need to be patient?

It is fairly odd that you have 2ppm of nitrite but your ammonia hasn't dropped.

I mean it looks like things are going fine just from the numbers.

Agreed, you can't really have nitrite without some of the ammonia being metabolized. Is it possible that you added more than 4 ppm ammonia?

These are my tests from today. I never had the Ammonia at a darker green but I didn't test it right away, maybe for 2 days, but when I first tested it was at 2ppm so I added more ammonia powder.

I had the same thing happen to me. I just added more bacteria and waited a few days and it started going down.
