At petsmart I saw this thing that goes on the inside of your time and has a suction cup on it and it's supposed to give you a constant reading on your ammonia which I think would be nice. Has anyone ever used these and/or has any feedback?

I have the seachem one and it does work. I would never trust it in place of liquid test kit, but it is nice to look in there and glance at it.

If it's a choice between a liquid ammonia test and this product, I have to recommend the liquid test. I can't speak to the accuracy of strips because I have never used them. I think this product is worth the money I paid for it but only as a supplement to a good test. The Seachem ammonia alert has not failed me, but I wouldn't entrust my fish's lives to it.

I have heard mixed review about these things. Some people say they are great, others say they are more inaccurate than test strips. I would recommend getting a liquid test kit, but if you can't get one, go with the meter.
